Each item I dropped into the box was like removing another piece of the lie I had lived in for ten years. His watches, his cufflinks, his stupid expensive pens. All of it going into the trash where it belonged. The room still smelled like him. That heavy cologne he always wore. It made my stomach turn. I opened the bottom drawer of his desk to clear out the last of his papers when my fingers hit something solid at the back. A small drawer hidden behind a false panel. It was double-locked. My heart started beating faster. I had never seen this before. I grabbed a letter opener from the desk and worked at the locks until they finally gave way
