Julian found me in the library the next day. I was standing between two tall shelves, staring at a book I was not really seeing. My mind kept returning to those bank statements and the name S. Reed. Who was she? How long had David been sending her money behind my back? Julian closed the door behind him. The soft click made me look up. “You have been hiding in here for too long,” he said, walking toward me. “What is wrong?” I took a small step back. “Nothing. I just needed some time alone.” He did not stop until he was standing very close. His body blocked me against the bookshelf. “You look troubled. Talk to me, Clara.” I shook my head. “I am not in the mood right now, Julian. Please.” He placed one hand on the shelf beside my head. “Not in the mood? That is exactly why I am here.” H
