David's Pov She was getting too close. I sat in my wheelchair in the dim light of my private sitting room, fingers drumming lightly on the armrest. The faint sound I had heard earlier still echoed in my mind — that small, broken sob from the storage room. My hand had been on the door handle. One more second and I would have opened it. One more second and I would have seen her face. Clara. My perfect, loyal wife. I smiled slowly to myself. The thought should have angered me, but instead it sent a thrill through my veins.
