I drove back from the clinic with my hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles turned white. The image of Victor sitting behind that desk would not leave my mind. Julian’s younger brother. The man who had signed every medical report for years. The man who had looked me in the eyes and told me David would never walk again. All of it was a lie.
