My work wasn"t done yet. I tried to ignore the wolves while washing the hindquarter down, and cutting it into roast-sized chunks. I placed them all in the root cellar. When it was safe, I"d move most of them out to the tool shed where they"d freeze. I stripped off my clothes and washed down my body with water warmed on the stove. The rest of the day was spent in the confines of the cabin. Eventually, the wolves moved back across the bridge but I could hear them at times during the day snarling over the carcass. Thank God I"ve got enough water and wood inside the cabin. At dusk, I snuck out the back to stock up more wood and empty my pee bucket. No visits to the outhouse today.
