The helicopter circled overhead, inspecting the clearing. It was a Delta six-seater. Sean told me it was Tom"s "baby". The seats come out for carrying freight. Slowly, the big red bird descended. Hovering momentarily over the open field, it finally came to rest. The noise was deafening. Dirt and debris flew all around from the down draft created by the huge circulating rotor. Sean yelled something to me but it was lost in the din. The door opened and an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police disembarked. He turned to help a middle-aged woman, carrying a doctor"s bag, down from the helicopter. The pilot turned off the rotor and it slowly came to a stop. The noise level dropped quickly.
