My heart hurt just thinking about Amy and the fact that we weren't able to help her.
A sudden realization hit me and I felt panic rise in my chest. The last time that Josh had mentioned Amy being alive, he had sounded almost relieved; which was surprising, given the circumstances. Now I realized that he must have known that he was probably going to die before Amy did. He had to be terrified about it. I wondered if he had gone to look for Amy. If he hadn't...then I had no idea where she was. Or if she was dead already. Would I ever find out?
"Hey," I said suddenly, startling Rachel.
She glanced at me and tilted her head curiously. "Hmmm?"
"How long has it been since they released Amy and Josh?"
