I lie there for a few seconds before falling asleep. I wake up an hour later, and I make my way downstairs again. I find Alpha Gabriel sitting in a chair by himself. His posture is slumped, and he's staring at the floor. He doesn't even seem to notice me when I walk in. "Hey," I say. "Are you okay?" "I'm sorry," he whispers. "For what?" I ask.
