A tired-looking waitress set a plate in front of Cole with a weary smile and shuffled off to refill the coffee cup of the man in the next booth. Ignoring his breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries for the moment, Cole glanced around the small diner and wondered if any of the other patrons were headed to Mountain Haven for 'family day'.
