The roar of the crowd was deafening. It vibrated the floor and pulsed through Mackenzie’s body like an electric current. Her muscles twitched as though her body wasn’t sure whether to run or stay put. Her eyes stayed glued on one of the four large screens hanging above the basketball court, offering a close-up of the game that had almost everyone on their feet with excitement. This was Mackenzie’s first-ever basketball game. Hell, it was the first time she had attended a game of any form of sport. She’d never bothered before, not even in high school, in support of the school team. Maybe if her brother had played a sport, she might have, but Greg had no interest in sports, just like her, and so they had both stayed away from that world. Hunter, however, seemed to thrive in that world.
