Derrick’s POV I was surprised when I heard a knock on the front door. Susan and I rarely got visitors, especially at this time of the day. I stood in the middle of the room, wondering who could be at the door. No one came to mind at all. I would have said it was Eliana, but the last few days of silence had made it clear that she didn’t really care about me. And besides, she didn’t know where I lived. My heart hurt every time I remembered how things used to be between us, but my pride wouldn’t let me reach out to her. If there was ever going to be any contact between us again, it definitely wouldn’t be initiated by me. She was the one person who was supposed to be there to comfort me after the way things went down, but she was nowhere to be found. In her stead, alcohol gave me solace. M
