Derrick’s POV
I woke up to the sound of strange voices. They were coming from all around me, as if I was surrounded by a large crowd. My eyes slowly fluttered open. Up above was a bright white that nearly rendered me blind. A sharp burst of pain seared through my brain and I winced in agony.
The voices suddenly stopped talking, then I felt a hand on mine. The hand was warm, comforting, as if trying to assure me that I was safe. As the pain in my head subsided, I opened my eyes again.
The time around, I immediately diverted my gaze to the side.
“Yeah. He’s awake,” a voice said. It was feminine but firm. My eyes traced it back to the owner.
