Chapter 6 ~ Iris ~ Ronan's gaze didn't leave my face. And then I bowed at once. "Morning Alpha," I murdered under my breath, still processing the conversation I heard earlier. "Morning," he replied still accessing my face as like he would get any information he wanted on it if he merely looked at me. "To the packs dining, we have things to talk about," he said and left without much expression. I nodded, pretending to be unaware of the conversation I heard earlier. Alpha Ronan was known as a mean one, dreaded and feared by all. "Why does he want me in his dining room?" I went to the dining room after brushing. The tables were already set, filled with fresh bread, eggs, a lot of fruits and sizable cuts of meat. Then smaller coffee cups are arranged in rows. The servants were standing at almost every end of the pack, with swords in their hands, like they were preparing for war. The pack was much different from Frost blood. Things were done in order here and everyone's behavior according to law. Ronan was already seated with Ivy standing right beside him, her eyes fixed on him as he sipped his coffee. A picture of calm authority. I smiled to myself. "Things are in order here," I smirked. "Sit," Ronan ordered, snapping me out of my thoughts. I sat down trying to keep a bold face as much as I could. I wouldn't want him to have a glimpse that I eavesdropped on his conversation. " So Iris, how was your night? "he asked, his voice sweeter at the mention of IRIS. He called my name like it meant more to him. I took a sip of my coffee, trying to maintain my composure. " Not bad though," I replied my voice neutral as I forced a tight smile. Ronan leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving mine. " Cool," he said. "I was thinking maybe we could discuss your role in the pack. I nodded, still playing the part of the clueless Iris. "You should know what you want me for before buying me," I demanded, summoning every last shred of courage. He grinned, "A quite difficult one. Well, what do you think of our pack?" he asked, eyes steadily fixed on me. " Different," I declared. "And what's different exactly?" he asked this time, leaning forward in my direction. "Well, tall walls, tall people, strict laws and mean people," I replied, swallowing hard and raising my chin in defiance despite the fear in my hands I sipped the coffee one last time, trying to avoid more questions. And then, the door creaked open, and a tall girl dressed in a suit stepped in. "Alpha, the council is waiting for you," she said in a respectful tone. " I will have my beta get you when I'm back. We will, you continue our discussion". " So, you know, Ivy is my beta," he said pointing at Ivy. " A female better?" I gasped, blinking rapidly, unsure of what I had just heard. "Yes," he replied, and snatched his suit jacket off the chair and put it on. My mouth fell open as I watched him, he looked so handsome. The corner of his lips curled into a warm smile. "See you later Iris," he said my name again, his voice very sweet at the mention of I-R-I-S. I couldn't help but smile as I watched him leave. ********* I patiently waited for his beta to come get me, but she didn't show up. I stayed up almost the whole day waiting to know what my next fate would be. Was he going to kill me or probably send me into the dungeons like Neo said, or make me one of his whores. Fate was yet to decide. I decided to shower after waiting, then slid into my night gown when my room door flew open without warning. It was Ronan. The air tightened as he walked in, tension spiraling like a storm brewing in silence. I sat up straighter burying the tension brewing inside. "Barging into someone's room doesn't show courtesy, does it? Dear Alpha," I asked rhetorically, crossing my arms in my chest. His mouth curved slightly, but the amusement never reached his eyes. "It isn't courtesy baby bun. I'm an Alpha king, so it is not necessary. " How can I help you, Alpha?" I bowed. I have waited patiently for your beta as you said earlier, but she wasn't here," I frowned. "Yeah, we had a lot up our sleeves for the day." He looked at me then let out a sly smile. His eyes scanned the room, and then his gaze dropped to my chest. I wrapped my hands around my chest. He smiled and licked his lips in satisfaction and then nodded. "You have really got nice boobs," he said, eyeing me in a sultry way. He then crossed his arms behind his back and made his way closer to me. His minty breath cooling my tensed face. " Aren't you dressing sexy for bed? You just stay alone and neither is your lover here". He laughed bubbly, then used the tip of his nose to graze my cheek. My body betrayed me as my n*****s stood firm and my c**t became wet. " You have really got nice shape," he whispered into my ear, cleared his throat and then backed away. "Here," he said and dipped his hands in his back pocket, handing me a brown envelope. "Open it and read what's inside," he demanded, arms crossed. My hand dipped into the envelope, pulling out a neat stack of papers. I looked at him, then my eyes returned to the papers. I read over the first few lines and paused. "What's this?" I asked. "Your life after signed," he sounded calm, but his voice was more of a warning. I took my eyes back at the paper. " A contract marriage agreement? " I muttered. My eyes flickered." Was this some kind of joke? " But Ronan wasn't into joke. He was the most dreaded Alpha king in the whole of Crescent Hollow.
