A Deal With A Ghost

“No… I had a few life changing moments happen and have bills coming due. I lost my last job because of timing issues due to them, so here I am.” “I see…” He wrapped my last hand with bandages and put away the supplies, looking up when Raymond came back with a small computer. “Sir; the footage.” He turned to computer around for the man and turned his head slightly to me. “Dotty, hun, I’m sorry about all that.” “It’s fine. Such is life when you work customer service.” I shrugged a little, both of us giving an awkward laugh as Mister Mysterious pushed play. He watched the screen for a while, his eyes becoming darker and darker after each second. “Those idiots..” He growled. “Raymond; have their cards revoked for all my clubs immediately. I will not stand for this type of riffraff in my business.” “Right away sir… And the..?” He gave mister dark and brooding a look, one that was asking something without speaking. “I’ll deal with them personally later.” He growled, his voice deep and menacing. “And my job?” I couldn’t help but ask, I needed this gig way more than anything at the moment. Both men turned to me then, Raymond shooting the man a glance. “I just needed to do a background check on her. Everything else she already filled out sir.” “Alright… How about I test you on something?” He turned his gaze back to me, his eyes roving over my body slightly. I felt naked under his gaze and knowing the dress I was wearing, it was like I practically was. “I need to rework the menu’s here. You seem… capable.. So how about instead of flashing your ass at my patrons, you work the kitchen with Heath back there.” “Oh…” f**k… I need those tips! I couldn’t pass up on that, the extra income that wasn’t on a W-2 was gonna be my grocery money. “Do you like flashing my clientele?” He raised an eyebrow at me, a small hint of a smile on the corner of his mouth. “Well… Not really.. I was really hoping for the tip money…” In a situation like this, honesty was always best. His eyes darted to the bills I had stashed in my cleavage, the bills just slightly peaking out. “Alright. Work the bar as well with Paul. The dress code is a little more than our waitstaff and dancers.” He nodded as Raymond took off, the area becoming a little more tense for me. “Thank you...” I nodded. The tips wouldn’t be as much; but at least it was something. I trialed it off as I held out a hand to shake his, seeing his eyebrow raise yet again when he looked at my bandaged hands. “Maximillian Ghost. But call me Mister Ghost.” He took a finger between his thumb and index, shaking my hand like it was made of fine glass; or maybe garbage. It was hard to read him. “Dorothy. Dorothy Davis.” I tried to stand up, but I forgot about the broken heel on my shoe. I began to tip over into the isle, the floor coming straight up to meet me. But just as I was scrunching my face and bracing for impact, Mister Ghost snagged me out of thin air. He caught me just mere inches from the floor, the angle he held me had his face a mere breathes width from my own. His light grey eyes were flecked with gold the closer I looked into them, like a rain cloud with the sun peaking through them. And just as fast as he caught me he had me back on my feet again too, my face flushed as he quickly let go of me and took a step back. “We may have to make sure this place is accident proof before you officially start.” He grinned slightly, my dress basically spilling my cleavage out now. “Officially? I thought I was starting today?!” I could still work; although my hands were killing me. “Not in your current condition. Your hands need to be completely healed before we can have you anywhere near the kitchen. We don’t want our clientele to develop a certain taste for blood.” He indicated my hands again, making me wince. “Then when can I start?” “As soon as you’re healed and your background check comes back. I’m sure you already signed the NDA?” “Yes, I did.” That paper had been a mile long, the only one I really skimmed over with Raymond. “Good, then I’m sure you understand the gravity of the situation if word of certain clients of my clubs were leaked.” His grin turned into a serious frown, making me gulp slightly. “Yes, Mister Ghost.” I got a shiver down my spine, the heavy feeling of before pressing against me. I ignored it and shook myself a little, having him raise his eyebrow ever so slightly again. “We’re also going to need to get a blood test from you. We very well can’t have someone with possible pathogens working with food too.” “Th-that’s a little extreme… But that won’t be a problem, sir.” I’d never had a place ask for that before, but then again, they were a cut above the places I usually worked for. Sure, I knew you needed to disclose the fact if you had something, but never had I ever heard of the company or business doing a test themselves. “Good; now let’s get going.” “What?” My mouth hung open slightly in confusion as he extended his hand to me, the stupid smirk back on his face.
