I watched the little waitress go, Hal whistling as he stared at her backside. “f**k, smart and sexy; she’s definitely my type.”
“Anything that moves is your type.” I rolled my eyes at him, and then frowned. “She’s new as well, so no scaring her off. It’ll be bad for business.”
“Yah right. By the time she realizes that you tricked her with the tip, she’ll be walking out that door.” He rolled his eyes at me, smiling as he sipped on his cognac. I had to hand it to the waitress though, she had Hal pegged down to a tee.
“You don’t make money by throwing it away. If she can’t follow through with a deal, that’s on her.” I didn’t make my millions just by throwing away dollars at any pretty face I saw, it was earned. Even then, some of it was earned illegally too. “Now, about the luxury housing projects in Cedar Springs..”
“Yah, yah… offer the seller a bit more to sign it over and get the ball rolling. You know, I did some digging on them too. Apparently they had someone die in the family, leaving behind a lot of debt. That’s probably why they’re hanging on for as long as they can, wanting to wring us for every penny.” I growled at that, not liking being taken as a fool.
“In that case… hod onto the money for a few weeks then, let them sweat it a little more for their troubles.” I grinned thinking of the little bit of payback I could do for messing with me.
“By the way… Why did you break your own rule of the club? I’ve never seen you willingly touch one of the help before. Unless; she’s your kind of pretty.”
“It was her ring to be honest. Something like that was probably stolen or even a gift from a lover in a pack. It was Tanzanite; a rather expensive cut of it as well.” It made no sense for a stripper to have that ring; unless all their money went to purchase it. If I had to guess, the stone, gold, and small diamonds I saw around it placed the item in the tens of thousands range; meaning she had connections somewhere.
“Speaking of… Damn, no way!” Hal looked floored for a second as he watched something behind me, reaching into his pants for his wallet and slowly pulling out another crisp one hundred dollar bill. “You did it… you really did it.”
“Here you are handsome. I hope it’s not the only thing you enjoy today.” She placed the Waldorf salad in front of me, winking as she did. No f*****g way. She wasn’t like the usual airhead see hired then; making something out of basically nothing. “Now; I believe we had a deal?” She waggled her eyebrows at Hal, the man reaching into his wallet and about to hand it over.
“Hold on.” I stopped him, eyeing the waitress with suspicion. “Hal, taste it.”
She raised an eyebrow at me and smirked slightly, basically screaming at me that she had won. I didn’t like it; not one bit. In this game of life, I always came out on top; the others failing miserably. This little bimbo would be just like the others. She would fail, especially since there was no way in heaven this would taste good; and we would keep our money.
I watched Hal intently as he picked up a bite with his fork, hesitating for just a second longer, then grinning. “Well… you definitely earned this.” He handed her the two hundred, making both of my eyebrows raise up. I picked up my fork as well, tasting the salad in front of me, then frowning.
Who is this woman? I took in her features, the shape of her nose, her chin, and leaned forward and gave her a subtle sniff.
She smelled human, with something sweat and carnal in her undertones. “Who are you, really?” I narrowed my eyes, knowing damn well I’d never hire a hybrid to the club. Those notes told me one thing and one thing only; she was unclaimed property, a loose end of a wolf’s misdeed.
“I’m Dotty, sir.” She smiled at me, ignoring me completely as I let my Alpha aura out. Hal started to quake in his seat, perspiration on his brow. “But if you don’t mind, I have other tables to get to. Just let them know if I can bring you anything else.” She blew Hal a kiss and slowly turned, sashaying down the walk way as her ass cheeks just barely poked out of the bottom of the dress.
The f**k? How was she able to stay standing?! I had basically opened my full aura to her, something that would have knocked a fully grown human man down and out for hours.
“What did you do that for?!” Hal whispered harshly at me, pulling at the collar of his shirt. “You about put me in a damn near coma!”
“There’s something off about that girl..” No one had ever been able to ignore my aura before; well, excluding one other wolf, and she was just a hybrid to boot. “I want you to find out who she is.”
“She’s just a skank, nobody of importance.” He shrugged, eating another bite of the Waldorf salad. “I’m sure she probably just wondered in off the streets.”
I slammed my fist down on the table, making him jump. “Nobody just wonders in off the streets here, least of all a hybrid.”
“Nah; she was pure human.” Hal shook his head as he tried to look after her again, watching her work on the other side of the club. “Something that fine wouldn’t have any trouble being claimed by a wolf though.”
I growled at him then, the sudden sound making me stop as soon as I had started, startling myself at the reaction. “No.” I coughed to cover up my reaction, appealed at what my wolf made me do. “She’s a hybrid, and I bet you she is working for either another pack or even a rival. Have her tailed and make sure she hasn’t already ruined anything yet as it is.”
“U-understood.” Hall downed the last of his drink, almost chocking on a piece of ice as she shoveled the rest of his salad into his mouth and ran off, leaving me alone and brooding.
“Who are you?” I whispered to myself as I continued to watch the small woman, getting caught up in her subtle curves and her genuine smile she was giving the customers. The more I watched her though, the more I recognized a pattern.
Any time a costumer would make advances at her, she would turn them down. She, or even the customers, would call over Tracie; one of the workers who was decent at her job. Are they a team? I pondered, watching them work together, Dotty giving Tracie a thumbs up occasionally. They definitely know each other at least.
I picked up my fork absentmindedly and took a bite of the salad, pausing when the flavor hit my tongue. “Damn… She really did earn it.” The flavor was simple yet spot on, something I was sure shouldn’t have been possible with the small kitchen we had in this club. “WHO are you, indeed.”
Just as I said that, I saw Dotty pass by a table that had been rather handsy this evening; the two wolves and omega with them causing some trouble for the staff. I watched in shock as when one wolf reached out and goosed Dotty as she passed, the omega stuck out her leg, causing the surprised waitress to trip and fall, sending a large tray of drinks she had been carrying to fly everywhere.
