ELISA'S POV I finally forced myself to walk away, my steps shaky. I wasn’t heading back to the kitchen like I should have. Instead, I found myself wandering toward the backyard. I didn’t know why, but I just needed air. The cool air brushed against my skin, carrying the faint scent of earth and flowers. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to clear my head.
