Leaving one home for another.

Henry my father’s butler was still up and cleaning when I walked in, I knew I was a bloody mess but he didn’t panic at all he just helped me inside and up stairs to the shower. “Your mother and aunt think you have been here since the night your camp was attacked by wild animals. I have had some people out there looking for you, I'm just glad you came here and not your mothers.” I huffed at his comment. “My father told you my secret? Just how much did he tell you?” “It’s not my business Miss Selena; I will continue to serve you just as I did with your father.” “I did kill one of them, the man that made me what I am and only because the threatened to kill the 2 boys that helped me to keep my gift under wraps. You need to see to understand, can you please not scream.” I grunted as my wolf tore free and stretched out, the need to run was strong but we knew the risk and it wasn’t worth it. We looked at Henry and bowed our head. “Follow me miss, there is fresh meat in the fridge.” He said completely calm, there was even a hint of a smile on his lips. I followed him into the kitchen and waited, he pulled out a large leg of ham and put it on a plate on the floor. This thing was huge and an easy 45 pounds of ham that my wolf was just dying to tear apart so I let her take over while I rested knowing Henry would keep our secret and he would keep us safe. In the morning I found myself on my bed with a freshly pressed robe hanging up on the door, slowly I got up and slipped it on before going down stairs. “Well that was… different.” He smiled at me as he handed me a hot coffee then he made up a plate of cooked meats with eggs and salad on the side. “My father must have really trusted you to share my secret, I can’t stay here in the city it’s just too dangerous. My wolf is tied to my emotions and being in a city that is still mourning my dad isn’t a good idea. I need open fields and space, I need a fresh start. Can you please call Gwen and ask if she will take me in for the remainder of the school year?” “Yes miss, anything else miss?” I paused before answering that there was something I wanted to do but I wasn’t sure if I was strong enough so I ask Henry. “Could you please come with me to put some flowers on his grave before I go?” a tear slips down my cheek. “It would be my honour.” He said stiffly but I saw his face drop, he truly could share in my pain for he had loved my father in his own way. After breakfast I went and showered then put on a pretty dress and went to say a final goodbye, I knew I would never willingly come back to the city. “Goodbye daddy, I promise I will be the girl you always thought I could be. I love you always and forever.” I cried as I kissed his headstone and left, I never looked back as Henry drove me back to the house so I could pack before I started my drive up to Montana. Henry set up an account that I could access whenever I needed it and he would send weekly updates on all the properties and businesses. I hit the road so I would be in the wilderness by nightfall, I parked up in a dense patch of forest and then quickly undressed and let my wolf run free and let her eat until she was ready for rest. I woke up in the trees next to my car but I wasn’t alone there were 2 men coming towards my car. I quickly get dressed and step out from the trees. “Can I help you? That’s my car.” I said strongly, the both turn to face me and that’s when I saw they were park rangers. “And where were you? We called out.” “I was felling sleepy so I pulled over here and slept then about an hour or so ago I woke up and decided to still do my morning exercise so I went for a run.” “Where are you headed miss?” “Selena Cyrus, since my father’s passing I'm finding it hard to be in the city so I'm going to my Aunts place in Montana.” I said sadly, they both looked incredibly sad for me. “What was a very smart choice to pull over and stop, we are very sorry for your loss. You have a lovely day.” They said and quickly left, I quickly left as well I didn’t need reporters on my tail yet. I made good time since I only stopped for fuel, we were still full from the amount we ate last night and I knew the change wouldn’t happen tonight so I could happily get to the state line and sleep in my car over night again. But when I woke up I crossed over into Montana, I felt better than I had in a long time. 6 hours later I was pulling up in my Aunt Gwen’s drive way and I felt like I was returning home at long last. She meets me at the front door when I finally got out and ran into her open arms.” Welcome home Selena.” I cried against her shoulder as she walked me inside and straight into the kitchen where I could smell fresh ground coffee and then suddenly my stomach grumbled. “Need some coffee?” she asked me with a smile and I chuckled at her. “Yeah I think so, thank you Aunty Gwen for taking me in I really couldn’t be in the city anymore.” Her face grew sad as tears filled her eyes. “Your father was an amazing man who would light up any room he walked in, you have that special something too Selena. I will help you in any way that I can.”
