"Wait, what..." I ask, a frown immediately appearing on my face as Ethan speaks.
He wants to step down as the Beta of our Pack...
"It's true..." He confirms it, almost as if he knows I didn't believe it the first time he said it.
"But, why? You're an amazing Beta, Ethan..." I reply, not understanding why he'd want to drop the responsibility he has, especially when he is so qualified for the role.
"I just... I've been having a hard time adjusting to everything... I don't feel like myself. And I feel like that's affecting my duties as a Beta. Badly... and I think the Pack doesn't deserve that..." He begins and my expression softens to one of sympathy rather than surprise.
