2. The Headmaster

1110 Words
The corridors were dark and quiet. Guess the welcoming ceremony has ended and all the students went unpack to their respective rooms. "So where is the main office or someone who will show us around?" - Jake asked. "Nica told me that I need to look for some information board next to the Great Hall. So let's check it out." We looked for the damn board everywhere. In front of the Great Hall, inside it, and we got nothing. How are we supposed to find our way around this gigantic castle? Nica and Vince told me this place is like a maze, so without any help we might wander around here till supper and still not find our dorms. "f*****g Hell!" - I shouted out of frustration. There aren't any signs anywhere. Someone really didn't think this interior through. "May I help you, Gentlemen?" - asked someone from behind our backs. I turned around to stand face to face with an older guy with white hair. He was for sure a teacher here. He had a pleasant smile on his face, but that didn't fool me. The guy was strong, and his aura confirmed it. "Actually yes. We were late for the welcoming ceremony and now we don't know where to go." - I admitted truthfully. There wasn't any harm in being late, right? s**t can happen. "What are your names?" - he asked, looking at the papers in his hands. "Victor Cargarough and Jacob Braun." "Cargarough? From the Crescent Moon Pack?" - older man asked, raising his brows and doing his best to mask the smirk that was forming under his nose. "Yes." - I admitted hesitantly. "Follow me." - he ordered and turned on his heel. Jake and I shared a look and both shrugged but went after the mysterious man. He led us to the Headmaster office and that alone gave me an idea who he was. When we entered the big, decorated with wooden objects room, he showed us to two seats in front of the massive, old looking desk. "So you are the youngest of the Cargarough siblings. I know your family very well and I grew fond of them. How are they doing?" - he asked. "They are doing ok, Mister…" "Oh, where are my manners? Headmaster Whitewood, I'm your sister's in law - Chloe Great-uncle. So we're practically a family." - he finally introduced himself. That's right Vince told me that the damn school is run by a white wolf, so he must be it. I wonder if it would be inappropriate to ask him about his power. Well, maybe some other time, but the whole concept of wolves with special abilities was fascinating to me. Damn, I wish I had one of those. "Nice to meet you Sir." "Victor, it was kind of a good thing I ran into you, cause I've been meaning to talk to you." - he said, intertwining his fingers and getting to a more serious tone. "What about." - I asked curious. Was it possible that my fame surpassed me? "About your roommate." - I guess not. "And what about him?" "I want you to show him our ways, as he and his sister came from a bit of a wilder environment. And knowing your sibling beginnings in this institution, I'd like to warn you that I won't be tolerating any acts of violence here." - his soft smile was gone while saying the last part. I heard stories about spats with the Springers Vince and Veronica had, but it all turned out ok. What was the old man expecing, that's just the way young wolves are. We act before we think things though. "Of course Sir. I'll do my best to not let you down." - I admitted. From experience with my mother I know that it's best to agree with elders so they would get off my back. - "But why should I show my roommate around?" "He and his sister are from the Pack located deep in the sss jungle. They almost never interacted with humans, and they are less… tamed, than the rest of our students. As you two are the only male Alphas in the school right now, I had no one else to assign to him, so here I'm asking you to be more than just a roommate. More like a guide." I gave Jake the look, and I saw he was having the time of his life, hearing I have to babysit some savage. Great! My excitement to be here dropped tremendously. " Ok, no problem. What should I expect?" " Just be friendly and don't cause any troubles. Their Pack just joined the elders council, and Rafael and Lena are the first ones to come to this school. I just want them to feel welcomed." - I suspected there was something more behind his words, otherwise he wouldn't go through all this trouble to advise me like this. " Of course Sir, you have nothing to worry about." - I assured him with a diplomatic smile. "What about me? Who am I going to live with?" - Jake asked curiously. "If I remember correctly, with Martin Park from Surge Pack." "Is he related to my brother's Gamma?" - I asked. "Yes, I believe he is Kevin's youngest brother." - The Headmaster confirmed my suspicions. In that case I knew the guy. Martin was quiet and acted more like a soldier than a teenager, but he was a good guy. Jake has nothing to worry about. Unlike me, who has some weirdo from the jungle on his back. We both nodded and waited for the Headmaster to dismiss us. "Alright Boys, here are your welcome packages, you will find in there keys to your apartments and some basic information concerning classes. But please don't be late tomorrow. Now you are free to go unpack and welcome to Woodlands Academy." We bowed with respect and left his office. We stepped away far enough so that the old man wouldn't be hearing us. "Is it just me, or was the Headmaster gently telling me that my roommate is f****d up?" Jake started laughing wholeheartedly. I'm glad that the shitty situation I'm in amuses him so. "Yeah, I guess he did. But look on the bright side. You used to live with Nica and turned out alright, how much worse can that Rafael guy be?" - he joked, and even though I chuckled at his comment I couldn't shake the feeling that jungle boy will bring trouble. "So, shall we?" - Jake asked, pointing to the stairs. "Yes, we shall."
