The next morning, Elena woke up feeling weak.
Her finger still hurt from the cut last night, but that wasn’t what bothered her the most.
It was Adrian.
The way he held her hand.
The strange look in his eyes before he walked away.
“Elena!”
Bianca’s voice immediately ruined her thoughts.
“Hurry downstairs and prepare breakfast!”
Elena quickly changed into her plain maid dress before rushing to the kitchen.
As usual, Sofia sat proudly at the dining table scrolling through wedding venue pictures while Bianca spoiled her with attention.
“We should hold the wedding in Venice,” Sofia said excitedly. “The media would love it.”
Bianca smiled proudly.
“You deserve the best, my daughter.”
Elena quietly served coffee without saying anything.
Just then, the mansion doors opened.
Adrian walked in with Matteo beside him.
The atmosphere instantly became tense.
Even Bianca straightened nervously.
“Mr. De Luca,” she greeted politely.
Adrian simply nodded once before taking his seat.
Sofia immediately moved closer to him.
“Adrian, I missed you.”
He gave no response.
Elena carefully placed a cup of coffee in front of him, trying hard not to meet his eyes.
But Adrian suddenly spoke.
“You sing.”
The spoon in Elena’s hand froze.
Everyone looked confused.
“S-sing?” Sofia frowned.
Adrian’s gaze remained fixed on Elena.
“Last night.”
Elena’s heartbeat quickened instantly.
Last night, while cleaning the backyard alone, she had softly hummed an old song without realizing someone heard her.
The same song she and Adrian used to sing together years ago.
“It was just nothing, sir,” Elena whispered quickly.
But Adrian kept staring at her.
For some strange reason, hearing her voice last night made his chest tighten painfully.
Like a forgotten memory desperately trying to return.
“You can sing?” Sofia suddenly laughed mockingly. “Since when?”
Elena lowered her head silently.
“She used to sing when she was younger,” Bianca answered dismissively. “But she’s not talented enough to become anything important.”
Adrian’s expression darkened slightly.
He didn’t know why her words irritated him.
Matteo suddenly stepped forward with a file.
“Sir, the Romano family requested a meeting regarding the underground shipment issue.”
The dining room immediately became quiet.
Everyone knew the Romano family was another dangerous mafia group in Italy.
Adrian calmly stood up.
“Handle the meeting at the warehouse tonight,” he said coldly. “If they refuse my conditions…”
His eyes turned icy.
“End it.”
Even Bianca looked nervous hearing his ruthless tone.
Adrian adjusted his cufflinks before walking away, but just as he reached the door, he paused slightly.
Without turning back, he spoke again.
“That song…”
Elena looked up immediately.
“Don’t sing it again.”
Her chest tightened painfully.
Because the song belonged to them.
And somehow…
Even after losing his memory, it still affected him.
