Chapter 11. The CEO’s Wife

536 Words
The moment Elena returned home, Bianca slapped her hard across the face. “How dare you disappear all night!” her stepmother shouted furiously. Elena lowered her head silently while holding her burning cheek. “I’m sorry…” “Sorry?” Sofia scoffed while sitting comfortably on the couch. “You’re lucky they even allowed you back into this house.” Elena remained quiet. She couldn’t tell them the truth. She couldn’t tell them she spent the night in Adrian De Luca’s mansion. Because she herself still didn’t fully understand why he brought her there. And thankfully… Bianca and Sofia had no idea whose house it was. Her father wasn’t home either. As usual, he had traveled abroad again for business, completely absent from everything happening inside the family. “Go clean my room,” Sofia ordered arrogantly. “And make sure my dresses are arranged properly. I’m officially Mrs. De Luca now.” Elena quietly nodded before walking upstairs. Her misery continued like always. Meanwhile… At De Luca Holdings, excitement spread through the company building. “The boss’s wife is coming today!” “I heard she’s beautiful.” “She’s so lucky…” Luxury cars soon stopped outside the company entrance. The moment Sofia stepped out, everyone stared. She wore an expensive designer dress with flawless makeup and sparkling diamonds around her neck. Her beauty immediately attracted attention while cameras flashed around her. But her attitude ruined the elegance quickly. “Move,” she snapped rudely at an employee standing near the entrance. The worker quickly stepped aside nervously. Inside the company lobby, staff greeted her respectfully. “Welcome, Mrs. De Luca.” “Good morning, ma’am.” Sofia smiled proudly, enjoying every second of the attention. Especially from the female workers. Most of them secretly hated her already. For years, many women in the company admired Adrian De Luca from afar, but nobody dared approach him openly because of his cold personality and terrifying reputation. Now Sofia had officially become the woman beside him. And she made sure everyone noticed it. “She acts so arrogant,” one employee whispered quietly. “Well… she married Adrian De Luca,” another sighed bitterly. Upstairs in the executive office, Adrian sat behind his desk signing documents while Matteo discussed business reports. “Mrs. De Luca has arrived, sir.” Adrian didn’t even look interested. “Send her in.” A few moments later, Sofia entered smiling brightly. “Adrian.” She expected warmth. Instead, Adrian simply continued working. “You called me here?” she asked softly. “There’s an investors’ dinner tonight,” Adrian answered coldly. “You’ll attend with me.” Sofia forced a smile despite the disappointment growing inside her. Since the wedding, Adrian barely acted like a husband. No affection. No interest. Nothing. Still, she refused to complain. After all, she was now Mrs. De Luca — the wife of Italy’s most powerful billionaire and feared mafia king. Meanwhile Adrian leaned back slightly in his chair, his expression unreadable. For some strange reason… The only face constantly appearing in his thoughts lately wasn’t Sofia’s. It was the quiet maid girl with sad eyes who somehow made his forgotten memories ache again.
