Chapter 17. The Surrogacy Contract

621 Words
Elena stared at Bianca in disbelief. “You want me to what?” Bianca crossed her arms impatiently inside the hospital hallway while Sofia stood beside her looking disgustingly calm. “Carry Adrian and Sofia’s child,” Bianca repeated coldly. “It’s simple.” Elena’s breathing became uneven immediately. “No.” Sofia scoffed loudly. “You should feel honored.” Elena ignored her and turned toward Bianca desperately. “I can’t do something like that.” Bianca’s expression darkened instantly. “Then your grandmother leaves the hospital today.” Elena froze. “What?” “She’s already in critical condition,” Bianca continued coldly. “Without money, they’ll stop her treatment immediately.” Tears instantly filled Elena’s eyes. “You can’t do that…” “I already spoke with the hospital management.” Elena’s knees nearly weakened. Her grandmother was all she had left. Meanwhile her small savings were already disappearing quickly. She still needed money to survive, help Nina with rent, and secretly continue building her dream of becoming a fashion designer at Bellissima House. Bianca stepped closer. “This is your only chance to save your grandmother and your future.” Elena shook her head painfully. “But carrying their child…?” “You’ll be paid millions afterward,” Sofia interrupted impatiently. “Enough money to start whatever fashion business you want.” Elena felt trapped. Completely trapped. And sadly… She had no choice. Hours later, a black luxury car stopped in front of the De Luca mansion. Elena stepped out slowly while anxiety filled her chest. The mansion looked even colder than before. A maid quietly escorted her inside until they reached Adrian’s massive living room. Adrian sat on the couch calmly while Sofia leaned possessively against him, her hand resting proudly on his chest. The sight hurt Elena more than expected. Adrian’s expression remained unreadable when he saw her. No surprise. No emotion. Nothing. Sofia smiled coldly. “She agreed.” Adrian simply nodded once before Matteo handed Elena a thick document file. “The contract,” Adrian said flatly. Elena’s trembling fingers slowly opened it. The words immediately made her heart sink. After giving birth to the child, she would be sent out of Italy permanently to another country chosen by the De Luca family. She must never contact the child afterward. She must obey every instruction throughout the pregnancy. She would stay under strict supervision. If she disobeyed, her grandmother’s hospital treatment would stop immediately. And after delivery, she would receive several million euros to keep silent forever. No one could know the truth. Not Nina. Not Camilla. Nobody. Elena’s vision blurred slightly from tears. This wasn’t a surrogacy agreement. It felt like selling her freedom completely. “I…” her voice shook softly. “Do I really have to leave the country afterward?” Sofia answered before Adrian could speak. “Yes.” Elena slowly looked toward Adrian silently. Part of her hoped he would say something kinder. Anything. But Adrian simply remained cold. “This arrangement protects everyone involved.” Those words shattered the little hope left inside her. Silence filled the room painfully. Elena stared down at the contract again while her hands trembled. Everything about this felt wrong. Humiliating. Cruel. But then she remembered her grandmother lying weakly in the hospital bed. She remembered Bianca’s threats. And she remembered she had nowhere else to go. Slowly… Elena picked up the pen. Then signed her name. The moment the contract became official, Sofia smiled in satisfaction. While Adrian simply stood up calmly like another business deal had just been completed. But unknown to all of them— The decision made that night would change every single one of their lives forever.
