Knock…knock…knock “Who's there?” Rieka was scared. “It's Bardulf, I'm coming in,” he said gently. “Coming in, how do I take care of his brother's corpse?” Rieka looked scared, “Wait” at least she remembered to put on a black baggy shirt and watch the door open slowly. “He's your chosen mate, he'll believe you and besides, Elf is not that important” Sophie bashed Elf, Rieka nodded, Sophie was right, Bardulf and Elf were just brothers but more like rivalries. But deep down, Rieka hoped that the strange monster within her would clean this mess, so she could only hear her thumping heart. “I'll explain to him and he'll believe me” she hoped. Bardulf entered with a young woman looking pale and had a mole right under her eyes. “Who's she?” Rieka questioned, forgetting about Elf lying lifelessly on the floor. “Ahhhhh” the pale lady screamed, covering her eyes, Bardulf moved back when he noticed his brother lying lifelessly on the floor. “What have you done Rieka?” he growled. His eyes turned red. Rieka shivered “He tried to r**e me…He tried to hurt me” Rieka tried to explain. The pale lady hugged Bardulf tightly, “I'm too scared to see him” she whimpered. “You'll pay for this with your life” he growled angrily. Bardulf reacted that way because he felt he would be free and could leave Rieka without questions from the people. That was the only way to cover his shame. Rieka knelt down desperately. “You can't do this to me, he honestly tried to hurt me, I only protected myself” she pleaded. “Ohhh…really? Where's your evidence? Did you expect me to believe your words” Bardulf mocked. He knew his words didn't make any sense but he wasn't bothered a bit. “We're mates…” Rieka was short of words. That was the only explanation she could give, he would feel if she was saying the truth. “No, she's my mate,” he pointed at the pale lady who hugged him desperately. Rieka’s world crashed before her eyes. She understood what Bardulf was trying to do immediately. A feeling of panic set it and she could only sigh. “You can't be serious” she wanted to hear it again, it might be the strange creature trying to scare her. “I thought we agreed to be chosen mate, you've found your mate so what will happen to me” Rieka eyes brimmed with tears. Silence She was losing it, she had loved this man, she had spent her teenage years fantasizing about him and learning to be his good wife. “We can talk this out Rieka” Bardulf tried to move closer to Rieka but she stopped him. “No, don't move closer to me” she screamed. He looked so calm but how was she to remain calm? Was her love for him a joke? She closed her eyes to control the hurt she felt, was this how it was going to end? “I'm so scared” his mate called out his attention again, Bardulf sighed “You have to face the judge tonight” he declared. “I know you want to get rid of me because of her, but you'll not get the chance” Rieka screamed maniacally making Bardulf shivered. Ashina, Bardulf's found mate let out a sigh, and clung on Bardulf tightly, “I'm scared, she hurt your brother, she's brutal” she cried. Ashina looked timid and weak, she noticed the brutal marks on Elf's neck, a werewolf wouldn't give the type of marks. She looked at Rieka suspiciously, she held Bardulf tightly, “I'm scared please take me out of here” she pleaded. Bardulf held her tightly. “I'll let it pass” Bardulf declared, surprising Rieka and Ashina, “But you must tell the members of the pack that you're pulling out of the Union” he declared decisively. Rieka let out a mocking laugh, she knew she was just a pawn in his deadly game, the pack’s members will never support him dumping her and he was trying to make himself the victim. “Why are you laughing?” Bardulf was puzzled. “I'm not going to be a pawn in your game Bardulf, I'll never be a pawn in your game” her sea Blue eyes turned yellow, not a beautiful kind of yellow, a burning yellow. She looked different, a lot of emotions flooded through Bardulf's mind, he needed a rethink. “I'll give you only twenty four hours to decide” he walked out with his mate, he knew he would not be able to handle this new Rieka. Rieka sat on the bed, she looked at the lifeless body of Elf and let out a sigh, she knew she was different but she never expected it to be this brutal. “How do I get rid of his body?” she let out a sigh of frustration. She looked at the body with a hint of disgust. Mixed feelings! Hurt, pain, disgust, betrayal…together, tears rolled down her smooth cheeks, she was hurt, no one to console her, she hugged her feet as she curled on the bed. Creak…the door opened again, Rieka jumped picking up a knife from the side table as a means of defense but Ashina entered. Rieka hissed and wiped her tears, Ashina didn't worth seeing her tears. “Hey” Ashina waved with a mocking smile resting on her face. “What do you want?” Rieka turned, facing the window but backing Ashina. “I'm here to tell you about our bed activities,” she smiled. Rieka clenched her fist, why was everything working against her? She faced Ashina “Leave, I have nothing to say to you” Ashina smiled. “Well, I'm not done with you” Ashina laughed, she picked up the knife Rieka dropped, “I'll teach you a lesson” she laughed. Rieka's eyes almost popped out of the socket “Don't you have shame?...” She was cut short by Ashina’s scream. “I'm sorry, I'll leave the Alpha, I promise” she screamed, Rieka moved back in fear. “No, I didn't lay a finger on you” she screamed, the door burst open, Bardulf entered panting. “She hurt me” Ashina pointed at Rieka, Bardulf's blood boiled in anger, he moved closer to Rieka who stood, she looked at Bardulf hoping he would believe her. “I didn't lay a finger on her,” Rieka said quietly. She pleaded with her eyes, they were childhood friends who became lovers, he should consider her this time right? Bardulf looked away, he clenched his fist, a tear drop fell from Rieka's eyes, he betrayed her and now he was not considering her. “I'm in pain” Ashina called Bardulf's attention, he rushed to her helping her up, Rieka stood watching him carry his mate out of the room. She fell on the floor, “what should I do?” she asked her little wolf. “I don't know” Sophie was clueless, Sophie was suffering too. Rieka sat on the floor for more than two hours, but she wasn't crying, she wasn't thinking or missing Bardulf, she was looking at Elf's body. The lifeless body turned green, at first she thought it was because he was infected but later she knew that might not be the case. She's a different werewolf she knows but what exactly is she?
