The chapter 3 : Familiar stranger

Gaea's Pov

I did not tell Alisa about the accident and I hitched a ride by a stranger. What’s more, I did not get a look at the man. I don’t want Alisa to worry about me. If she knows, I would be definitely admonished.

The next morning. I need to be on duty, so I have to arrive at the hospital early.

"Doctor, we have a patient now" one of the nurses knocks on the door of the office..

"Well, please come in," I said walking towards the desk.

"Good Morning, "a vigorous voice is near my ear. I look up when I hear a voice. A man dressed in casual clothes, a cool pair of eyes, featurely face, holding a five or six-year-old boy, standing in front of me. The cute boy with big eyes peered up at me with wide innocence. The boy’s lips are tight, and his arms are with the man's neck. But his small and cute face is red. 

I open the case book that the nurse hands over, and looks at it. 

"Sir, Please sit down now," I said.

“Thank you.”The man sits down soon and holds the child to his chest.

"You are Ethan Smith?" The name is written on the case book. I continue to ask "Well, what's wrong with your boy?" 

"My kid is not sick. It's me, I am Ethan Smith. This is my son, Jimmy Smith." the man replies to me.

"Awwww! So sorry, Sir" I feel a little embarrassed. In fact, I think it should be a parent bringing a child to the hospital.

“ It doesn’t matter.” The man murders. It is strange that I can see something in the depths of his eyes. It is happiness, regret, and miss. I thought that we should know each other.

"What's wrong with you?" I ask.

"A little feverish I think." He replies seeing my confusion and embarrassment. “My son could not leave me, and there is no one at home to take care of him. I have to take him to the hospital together." Ethan thinks to himself ---"Well, the babysitter's on leave and there's no one to take care of Jimmy."

"Where's the mother? I mean, your wife?" I have no idea why I ask him this question. This is the patient’s secret. I shouldn’t know more.  “ No, sir, I am sorry so much, I…..” my words are interrupted suddenly.

"Mommy" the little boy, who has been silent all the time, suddenly shouts just now.

I am stunned looking down at the boy. I don't know to say anything. My thoughts of the brain are drained. The man's voice suddenly turns cold. Suddenly and instantly, I see a sad expression on the man's face. I eventually come to my senses and realizes that I have made a stupid mistake. I seemed to ask a stupid question. 

"Sorry, Sir" I try to ignore the strange feeling in my heart. Vague pain storms out of my heart and chest.

"It doesn't matter. My wife has been missed for a long time." The man gasped in a sad voice.

My eyes were glued to the man in front of me. I finally realized he is the one who sent me to Alisa's home yesterday. I cried out: " It is you. Sir. yesterday. I remember you."

The man's eyes become a little wide. He seems to be shocked at my words. He nods at me " Nice to meet you again." 

........

 As Ethan walks out of the hospital, the driver gets out and opens the door of the car.

"Daddy, I want Mommy, I miss Mommy." said the boy weakly.

Ethan casually asks as he picks Jimmy up and arranges Jimmy’s clothes "Jimmy, you miss your Mommy ?”

The boy nods. But Ethan doesn't speak anymore. He turns his head to look at the scenery outside the window and his eyes are confused. The sadness from his eyes could be saw.

"Dad misses Your Mommy, too."

In the office, I sneeze a few times suddenly. The nurse smiles at me: “ It should be someone is missing you, Gaea.”

“ HAHA, Really, Maybe my future lover is somewhere,” I respond with a sweet smile.

As the traffic recedes, a layer of dust rose.

Ethan and his son come home, right now Ethan's white face has been a little red. He put Jimmy back in the room and then Ethan goes to the kitchen to boil water, for eating fever medicine. Ethan faints back to the bedroom, lying down on the soft bed and falling asleep soon.

Not knowing How much the time went by? Ethan seems to hear his son's voice in his dream. Opening his eyes, Ethan turns his head to see Jimmy standing by the bed holding a glass of water in his hands. When Jimmy sees Daddy wake up, he happily hands over a glass of water to his daddy.

Ethan sits up, taking a glass of water from his son, and drinks water down. In an instant, he feels much better because of a glass of water. Setting down the empty glass on the desk beside the bed. Ethan raises one hand to touch Jimmy's cute face.“ Thank you, Jimmy Daddy feels better.”

In Gaea’s house.

Gaea lies on the bed comfortably and can’t help recalling the scene of meeting the handsome man today. The man is so handsome and tall she has ever met. But Gaea is curious about him and feels strange. It seems that the man knows her.

Gradually, Gaea falls asleep with curiousness. Whether she will dream the embarrassing and shy dream or not?

Ethan's Pov

I finally see Gaea, my wife, again. When she stood at me in front of me that night, I forced myself to calm down first. Because I cannot lose her again. She got in the car and sat beside me. My hands tightened into fists. God knows how I struggle to force myself to chill out. I  was afraid that I would hug her at all costs. I knew I cannot do that.

I carried Jimmy, our son to the hospital that Gaea worked. Jimmy has always wanted his mom. Since he was born, he has had no chance to see his mom. I need to take my son to look for my wife, his mom.

Gaea seemed to forget everything including me, our son. Before she left, she had ever requested to catch a sight of Jimmy. I declined because of her illness. She has serious postnatal depression after she gave birth to Jimmy. This is the thing I regret most. I did not protect my lover even I host fortune and rights.

It had been 5 years. Jimmy is 5 years old. We find Gaea eventually. My father has always prohibited me from looking for Gaea. So it took me 5 years to look for a woman.  No one can stop me anymore.

I got her information since she left. She finished college, and become a doctor. Everything is peaceful except she lost memories of me. It doesn't matter. I will help her look for lost memories step by step.
