Chapter - Jerrica

After tossing and turning all night, I think I fell asleep right when my alarm went off. I drug myself out of bed and remembered I didn’t get a chance to get any coffee since my car was still attached to the back of the rental truck. I had planned to stop by the grocery store after dropping the truck off, but with my car still at Sammy’s shop and Sean giving me a ride home, I didn’t want to impose. I walked into the bathroom to take a shower and get some heat on my sore muscles. Last night I had gotten quite a lot of stuff put away. Probably because I didn’t bring much, but I still had some more work to do. At least I had found the soap and my hairbrush. I jumped in a hot shower letting the steam loosen my sore stiff muscles. For being only 27, I sure felt a lot older. The heat felt so good as I stretched that I stayed in so long I ran the hot water out. At least I don’t have a roommate to worry about needing any. I tidied up my room after getting dressed and made my way to the kitchen. I started unpacking boxes and making a list of things I needed from the store. I didn’t have to start work for a couple of weeks because I had wanted to give myself time to settle in before pulling 12 hour shifts at the hospital. The doorbell jarred me out of my thoughts on what else I needed and I looked at my watch and realized it was 9am on the dot. At least he’s punctual. I set my pen down and made my way to the front door, glancing around to make sure everything was picked up. I opened the door to Sean’s smiling face and I noticed he was holding a drink tray with 2 large cups of coffee. “OMG, how did you know. Oh, I soooooo need this. Thank you so so so so much!” I went to grab one when he pulled it away, “How do you know these aren’t for me?” My face must have been comical to look at because he started laughing, and what a laugh it was. Deep and rich and the laughter reached up to his gorgeous eyes. He handed over the coffee and I glared at him. I didn’t flash him a smile until I had the coffee in my hand and turned around to walk back into the house. Coffee is something you don't joke about! I made my way back through the living room to the kitchen table as Sean followed behind me. “I know how it is to move and not having coffee in the morning has got to be one of the biggest disasters there is. Plus, with your car at Mom’s shop, you couldn’t even go grab a cup at the Java Stop so I took a guess that you needed it.” He picked up his cup and put it to his lips and my thoughts immediately wondered how those lips would feel on mine as well as other places on my body. I shook my head a little to clear the thoughts churning through my brain. “Thank you again, it was very sweet of you, and I appreciate it. I’m sure you have better things to do with your day than spend any more time with someone who forgets her keys. Let me just grab my purse and we can head over to the shop.” I hopped off the chair to grab my purse. Sean grabbed his coffee, and we headed outside to his vehicle, this time a truck. “What happened to the mustang?” “It's at home in the garage. I don't use it as a daily driver. I had it yesterday because I wanted to change the oil while I was at the shop helping Mom out. I usually drive this around.” I’m not very tall, only 5’2” but I have been getting in trucks all my life. Growing up, everyone drove them and, of course, everyone lifted them. I learned really quickly how to hop my ass up into them. Sean opened the door and I slid in, feeling the soft leather under me. “This isn’t bad. I love the leather seats but it has to be pretty hot after it sits all day in the Georgia sun”, I chuckled. “That’s why we have air-conditioned seats”, he grinned and shut the door. He made his way to the driver's side and hopped in and started up. “I thought I would take you over to Jenny’s. She has the best breakfasts in town.” He glanced over at me as he backed out of the drive. “Really, I’m ok. I have a ton of stuff to do and shopping. I need to get myself settled before starting work.” “And what better way to start off a busy day than a great breakfast, plus we can get to know each other, and you will have your first friend here.” This was a losing battle and with my car being held hostage, I resigned myself to letting Sean take the lead. As we drove, Sean told me about all the things to do in Atlanta. I really wanted to check out the aquarium or the botanical gardens but that would have to wait till I started having regular checks coming in again. He played tourist guide and pointed out all the things he thought I should know as we drove further and further away from my car. When he finally pulled into a parking lot, I looked at the building that resembled a house. Someone had turned it into a restaurant and there was a small sign out front saying, “Jenny’s Eatery”. Sean opened my door for me and grabbed my hand as he helped me out of the truck. When our fingers touched, an electric current burnt its way from my fingers through my entire body leaving me breathless. I quickly pulled away and made my way inside the restaurant without looking him at him. What is he doing to me was all I could ask myself.
