I could tell she was overwhelmed by what I had just revealed to her, but she needed to know that I did understand what she was going through. It may not have been me that was beaten bloody, but it was my family. I held her hand and we walked into the home.
“Good afternoon Mr. Johnson. How are you doing today?” a receptionist sitting at the desk called out to him. “William radioed that you were on your way up with a guest.”
“Hello Janet. This is my friend Jerrica. I wanted to see about getting her enrolled in the women’s self-defense class”, I said as I ignored the look of shock on Jerri’s face.
“Of course. Go on out to the back, they have a class going right now”, she gestured to go down the hall.
