Chapter 3 “Sean” From the first moment I saw her, I knew I would make her mine. When I walked into the front of the shop and saw her standing there with a terrified look on her face and shaking, I knew I would have to go slow with her. She was scared of what I didn’t know, but I did know that nothing would ever hurt her again, knowing that she had walked into my life. Who knew when I agreed to help my mom out with her little adventure of running her own shop that I would meet my future. Her luscious body with curves in all the right spots, her beautiful auburn hair pulled up in a ponytail on top of her head, oh what could I do with that ponytail. Her gorgeous big brown eyes looking at me was all it took. I was gone and I knew it, but the fear I saw in them kept me from acting on any impulse I had. She had that deer in the headlights look and I did not want to spook her. I had to take a few minutes to compose myself before I was alone with her. I didn’t need to do anything stupid and scare her away. That look of pain, sorrow, and fear in her eyes was overwhelming and all I wanted to do was take her in my arms and protect her from the world. The car ride to her place was filled with me talking her ear off about my family's antics. Growing up with 5 little sisters had turned me into a bodyguard and no one messed with my sisters, well except for me. She laughed when I told her how one of my sisters had a major crush on my best friend, Tye, and she would always find a way to show up wherever we went. To stop her, I had switched the door handle to her room and was able to lock her in there one day when Mom and Dad and my other sisters were out at the sports park. I was able to go hang out at the mall without my whiney little sister following behind. I didn’t plan on her calling 911 from her cell to get help. Let's just say, the trouble I got in was far worse than having her following us around. When I pulled up to the address she had given me, I found a nice little house in a good neighborhood. I didn’t want to see the night come to an end, so I walked her to her door and had to restrain myself from reaching down to kiss her as I said goodbye. At least I would be hearing from her tomorrow. She needed her car to get around in town and right now her car was at my mom’s shop. As I walked back to my car and got in, I gripped the steering wheel to stop my hands from opening the door back up and running back to her. I thought back to our conversations. She really didn’t tell me anything about herself except that her dad had great taste in cars. I didn’t know how old she was, although I would guess she was about 28. I had no idea if she had a boyfriend, kids, or a husband, but there was no ring. There was a slight tan line on her left ring finger, so she did have something there. I had to wonder if that was the reason for the fear I saw in her eyes. That is something for tomorrow. To see what else I could find out about the life of Jerri. I started the car and headed home. I had agreed to catch up with Tye tonight but quickly dismissed it. I didn’t want to be around people tonight. I wanted to think about and try to make some plans regarding her. A quick call to Tye to let him know I wouldn’t be there tonight, and I was headed home. I only lived about 20 minutes away from her place, but the neighborhoods were as different as night and day. My family was very rich. I hated growing up with that kind of money because everyone looked at you and all they saw was what I could do for them. It was a pain in the ass for my sisters. I scared off a lot of guys wanting to get in good with them because of the money my family had. I didn’t hesitate when it came to my family. I will protect whats mine at all costs and have. I have kicked the s**t out of a few guys and destroyed the reputation of a girl because of their gold digging. F**k with my family, I will f**k you up. The crime I convict you of will determine the punishment which I will dole out without remorse. I pulled into the garage and went into the house, turning lights on as I went. I walked into the bedroom and found Majesty lying on my bed. I just shook my head; I swear she has to be the most spoiled dog in all of Atlanta. She has her own bed but I don't think she has ever used it. After getting her out to do business, I fed her, grabbed a cold beer out of the fridge and made my way out to the back patio. As I sat there, I kept thinking back about meeting Jerri. After my sisters and I were all grown and out of the house, Mom felt alone. Yes, she still had Dad, but all of us kids going on with our lives and having no one to take care of, Mom came up with a plan. She wanted to run a*****e. I still remember her trying to talk Dad into it. Dad was still going strong working at the hospital 5 days a week and having been named the Chief of Surgeons had kept him even busier. Being the wife of a doctor couldn’t have been easy for her, but with taking care of 6 kids, she definitely had her hands full most of the time. Once Dad relented on the store, Mom started researching. She was never one of those prim and proper southern belles you hear about. Oh no, she loved getting her hands dirty. I remember her playing catcher so I could work on my pitching for baseball in high school. She found a great location and, after showing Dad her business plan, bought the property outright. She set up Sammy’s Service and decided to cater to women who wanted mechanical work done as well as hiring only women. Her shop thrived and she decided to branch out and became a licensed location for rental vehicles, and on the one day a week I help Mom and her crew, she walks in. I had heard my sisters talking about how they all fell in love at first sight with their husbands and I always thought bulls**t. Women were always falling in and out of love but maybe there was something to this. I have never felt this way about any other woman I have seen or been with. For me, it was mostly tap it and move on. I wasn’t into relationships. It was too much work to always be thinking about someone else’s happiness, but now I am thinking about how I can make her happy. My cell phone rang startling me out of my thoughts as I reached for it and saw it was a Montana number. I was about to push it to voicemail when I remembered Jerri was from somewhere up there. “Hello” “Hey Sean, this is Jerrica, I just wanted to let you know I found my keys so….anytime tomorrow would be good for me.” I smiled as I heard the nervousness in her voice. “How about 9am? I’ll pick you up and take you out for breakfast and then over to the shop.” “You don’t have to do that, besides, I’m not much of a breakfast eater.” “What kind of a gentleman would I be if I let you go without breakfast? I will pick you up at 9 sharp.” I hung up the phone before she could reply and made sure to save her number in my contacts. Now I could relax and start working on getting to know her and making her mine.
