Chapter 6 - Sean

What the hell was that? I struggled to get the air into my lungs and then, just like that, she pulled away and looked down. This girl has some serious self-esteem issues. No problem, she is going to be worth the wait. I wanted her from the first moment our eyes locked and I always got what I wanted. “We have a reservation” I said when the hostess came over. She walked us to the back outdoor dining area. I could see Jerri’s eyes taking everything in. It is a beautiful place. The entire back backyard has been turned into an outside dining area. Each table is secluded by plants and trees, so even when they are busy, you feel almost alone. The hostess seated us and set the menus on the table. “Could I please get a cup of coffee and some water?” Jerri asked while grabbing a menu. I chuckled to myself. She was doing everything to avoid eye contact with me. “You should try the Kitchen Sink Omelet. It’s amazing and I bet you won’t even finish half of it.” I said when the hostess came back with the coffee and water. “You might be surprised by what I can finish” she replied. The double meaning finally registered and I watched as a crimson blush start creeping its way up her beautiful face. She quickly hid her eyes again and pretended to look over the menu. It was going to be a joy to pull her out of her shell. After we placed our orders, I decided to be straight forward with her. “You know some people might think you rude for not looking me in the eye” I joked with her. Her head snapped up quickly and I could see the conflict in her eyes. Her beautiful brown eyes were the window to her soul, and what a story they told. She was skittish around people, or at least men. She had definitely been burned by someone. Maybe a husband judging from that faint tan line on her left ring finger. I would have to make sure to let her set the pace so I didn’t spook her. “I’m going to be upfront with you Jerri” I said as I raised my coffee cup to take a drink. “From the first moment I saw you, I knew you were different, special, and I want to continue seeing you.” She started to speak when I put my hand up so she would let me continue. “I know you haven’t had it easy from the look in your eyes and your body language, but I know you felt it between us also. All I am asking for is let’s see where this goes. We will take it at your pace. I’m a patient man and I know you are going to be worth the wait to get to know you.” I said my peace and now it’s up to her. Little does she know that I won’t stop pursuing her until I have her. I have never felt this way about another woman before and I know if I don’t go after her she will run in the other direction. You could see the confusion on her face and she kept wringing her hands while I talked. Now it was my turn to listen. “Yeah you are right, I have had some s**t going on in my life and my fresh start here is just that, a fresh start. I’m not looking for a relationship, Sean, and while I appreciate you being honest with me about what you feel, the only thing I am looking for is to live my life with no complications. I hope you can understand that” she looked at me from under her lashes and my c**k stirred with that one look. “I understand and for now I am good with that. At least we can be friends, OK?” I said as I reached out my hand to shake on it. Her hesitancy at a simple touch spoke more than any words she could say. She felt the electricity pass between us with just a touch and she wasn’t ready to explore that. I was already formulating a plan in my mind on how I was going to win her over when our breakfast showed up. “Jerrica” Why is it my luck that the first guy I meet in Atlanta has to be a drop dead gorgeous and with a body carved out of stone by Gods own hands. The drive over here I kept trying to think of ways to get him to drop me at my car so I could go about my life minus him. I just need to squash these feelings that he seems to invoke in me and move on with my life. It’s true what I said about no complications, and I had a feeling my feelings towards Sean could get complicated real quickly. Breakfast was amazing and he was right, there was no way I could finish the entire omelet, the thing was huge. I ended up taking most of it home, I’m sure to only be thrown out later, but Sean insisted. When I tried to pay my portion of the bill, Sean flatly refused to even listen to me. I was finally able to convince him to let me leave the tip for the waitress. He was right, the place was beautiful and had it been different circumstances I would have loved to look around more. I was a nervous wreck with him sitting across the table from me. The entire place reminded you of an honest to goodness down home cooked meal. I made a mental note to make sure I would come back again. The drive over to his mom’s shop was uneventful and before I knew it, we pulled into the parking lot. Sean had the keys because the shop was closed on Sundays. After turning off the alarm, he motioned for me to follow him and we walked out the back to a fenced-in area with several rental trucks and my car. Sean was able to get my car off the dolly pretty quickly. I won’t lie and say that watching that man work didn’t leave me feeling very hot and it had nothing to do with the weather in Georgia. His muscles rippled under his black t-shirt and I could imagine running my hands over the outline of his pecs. Oh hell, I needed to get out of here. When he was done, he handed my keys over to me. “Here ya go. No problems and you got a good meal." “Thank you again for everything. I really appreciate it and can’t wait to check out some of things you pointed out. I better get going. I need to stop at the store and get home so I can finish putting the rest of my stuff away. Please tell your mom, thank you again for everything.” “My pleasure. I’ll be seeing you around Jerrica” he smiled at me as I ducked in my car. Oh that man is making me wet just saying my name. I turned my car over and pulled out just in time so he couldn’t see the flush spreading over my face.
