Chapter Four

510 Words
The Boy Who Didn’t Care The house was quiet again. Too quiet. Sakina lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Her phone rested on her chest, untouched. For once… social media felt boring. Her mind kept drifting. Back to the street. Back to him. --- Nii. --- She turned to her side, frowning. “Why am I even thinking about him?” She sat up, annoyed with herself. “He’s just… some street boy.” Silence. Her fingers tightened slightly on the bedsheet. “But…” She exhaled slowly. “He didn’t even look at me properly.” --- That was new. Strange. Uncomfortable. --- Every boy she had ever met was the same. Too eager. Too soft. Too impressed. “Hi, you’re so beautiful…” “Can I have your number?” “Your dad is rich, right?” Always something. Always trying to please her. --- But Nii? Nothing. No compliments. No smiles. No effort. --- Sakina frowned deeper. “He didn’t even wait after I said thank you.” She got off the bed and walked to the mirror. Staring at herself. Her skin. Her face. Her hair. Everything people always praised. “Am I not pretty?” The question slipped out before she could stop it. She blinked. Confused. --- “Of course I am.” But her voice didn’t sound convincing. --- She turned away quickly, pacing her room. “He’s just rude. That’s all.” Pause. “Or maybe… he’s proud.” Another pause. Her heart skipped slightly. --- “Or maybe… he just doesn’t care.” --- That one hit differently. --- Sakina sat down slowly. Her chest felt tight. Not pain. Not exactly sadness. Just… something unfamiliar. --- For the first time— Someone saw her… And didn’t try to impress her. Didn’t try to please her. Didn’t even try to stay. --- And for some reason— She couldn’t stop thinking about it. --- Downstairs, the nanny called out. “Sakina, your food is ready!” “I’m not hungry!” she shouted back. --- She stood up again, restless. Walked to the window. Looked outside. The world moved on like nothing happened. --- But inside her— Something had shifted. --- “I want to see him again.” The words came out softly. Honest. --- She bit her lip immediately. “Why?” No answer. --- Because he was different. Because he didn’t act like the others. Because he didn’t treat her like something to chase. --- Because he didn’t care. --- And somehow… That made her care. --- Sakina grabbed her phone quickly. Scrolled through contacts. Paused. There was no one she could ask. No one she could tell. No friends. No one who would understand. --- Her expression softened. Lonely again. --- “…I don’t even know where to find him.” --- She sat back on the bed slowly. Quiet. Thinking. --- Then— A small, determined look appeared on her face. --- “I’ll go back.” --- 🔥 End of Chapter Four ---
