Chapter 31Imbued with mixed emotions, I stare blankly around the room envisioning my parent's fear the stormy day I was born. Earlier, Anne had said Bruce was in my life the moment I was born. At the time, I didn't catch the insinuation. Now, I know what she'd meant.
The phone vibrates on the table, and on the screen, Kevin Collin's picture appears. I clear my throat and take a deep breath before answering. “Kevin?”
“Vic, where've you been? I've tried to reach you for two days. Are you at your apartment?”
“Kevin, I'm so sorry, I'm in Martha's Vineyard. I needed some time alone.”
“You shouldn't be by yourself.”
“Why? Is something wrong?”
“I have news about the Kimura family. I've been working with the FBI who has been working on this case for years. They're close to bringing them in.
