Chapter2:TheAlpha’sWarning

Before I could move, Kael’s hand shot out, gripping my wrist with a force that made my fingers tingle. “Let go!” I hissed, twisting against his hold. His golden eyes locked onto mine. “Not until you tell me why you’re sneaking into my territory under the Blood Moon.” The air between us felt charged, dangerous. I could hear my own heartbeat, fast and uneven. “I’m not sneaking,” I lied, glaring at him. “I came for answers.” Kael leaned in, close enough for me to catch the faint scent of pine and something sharper—like smoke after a fire. “Answers have a price, little wolf. Once you’re not ready to pay.” I swallowed, refusing to look away. “Try me.” A slow, cruel smirk tugged at his lips. “Brave words for someone standing on her enemy’s land. Do you know what happens to trespassers?” “They die,” I said, forcing my voice to stay steady. He studied me for a long moment, and then, instead of killing me, he released my wrist… only to step into my space until I had to tilt my chin up to meet his gaze. “Run,” he murmured. The single word sent a shiver down my spine. “What?” His eyes glinted like molten gold. “Run, Aria. Before I change my mind.” I didn’t wait to see if he was bluffing. My feet moved before my brain caught up, pounding against the forest floor. But even as I ran, I could feel it—his presence, trailing just far enough behind to remind me that I’d never truly escaped him. And deep down, I knew this wasn’t over. It had only just begun.
