Southern Spain ; Present time. "Are these cuffs really necessary?"Debra Delgado growled as the guard pushed her out of the van. She landed on the ground on her knees. Dust flew all over her head and sent her into a coughing spree. "Be a good girl and take your belongings.Geralt, take her inside" Be a good girl. Debra hated that statement. She couldn't count the numerous times it had been said to her.As a little girl ,her mother never failed to remind her to have good manners..The result of the constant lectures was her dropping out of school at sixteen. Hah! Then her grandmother handed her the reins of "Maria's coven" ,the Delgado lineage bar and hotel business at eighteen. She was a 'good' girl for a short time. But then by the devil's whip she got knocked up . The laugh of her life. That thought filled her with ice ,acid , molten volcano and other emotions she couldn't put a name to .She would see Marlon again. The graces knew she was not ready. She could not understand why she always messed up.This time she had really done it.She was losing everything . Breath Debbie.Just breath. With a pained step she got into the house. Luzma was huddled in a corner.Debra forced her shamed eyes to meet her sister's.Her heart crashed at the heartbreaking look on luzma's face. "Be quick"The guard named Geralt whispered to her ear. Debra nodded. She walked to her room with her head bowed low.Her heart was was in a frenzy. Her twin angels opened the door. For a minute there was a silent but painful conversation. In the next moment the three of them turned into a crying mess. "Momma please don't leave."Her daughter Maria cried. Her son Malcolm squeezed her tightly against his small body. She almost broke down. Were it not for the guard dog Geralt freezing glare and insufferable insults she would have crumbled further into the mess she was drowning in. Luzma being an angel came for the kids .Debra was left alone. She stripped and got into the shower.God only knew if this was the last time she would have a decent bath. She was tempted to fill the tub and drown herself. It was selfish. She would leave her two children behind. That was something she was not capable of doing. They were her whole world. At last she got out and dressed in her best outfit. If she were to leave she would make an effort of being beautiful for the occasion. Her belongings were packed neatly in suitcases. Luzma had been considerate enough to put a sharp pocket knife on the bed. Debra tucked it in her very generous bosom. The cold metal reminded her of the world she was going to.And that she would not be seeing her babies ever again. A tear slipped. It was followed by another. Debra Delgado crumbled. Her reflection did not fail to remind her trembling self of her mistakes. Her stomach bloated from the anguish she was feeling. After her weak moment passed she sat straight and looked at her reflection in the mirror. "Have some backbone Debra.Remember who you are" She whispered in her head. She stood and pulled a generous ward of money from her safe. She divided it into two and stuffed bits into her boots ,others in her jeans. And a little amount she tied up with the bun of her hair. For long she looked at her reflection. She prayed for a long life of prosperity and happiness. Though her inner ghost knew that her life was ending. She hoped that things would get better. Geralt announced that it was time for her to leave. Her children rushed into the room and gave her another bone crashing hug. "I love you both so much.I'll be back. I promise"She whispered to them. They all knew that it would never happen. No one ever got out of the colony alive. "We need to leave .It's getting late"Geralt's partner yelled from outside. "You heard him.Its getting late.Lets go"Geralt said. Luzma never met Debra's gaze as she left the house. She did not look up as the helicopter lifted up.She did not hear her niece and nephew's mind numbing screaming.Nor did she see the broken look Debra gave her from the little helicopter's window. All she felt was the anguish that ate at her bones. All this was because of her.If she had not given that slime Icar Sandroval her time things would still be okay. She cried until the sun went down. The children huddled themselves on each side of her .Their cries turned into hiccups and whimpers. Then the silence of the dead followed when darkness fell. A nightmare had just been lived. **** Nothern Spain ,the Colony Everything will be fine.It has to be. That thought kept Debra partly insane.Other than that her palms were sweating. She rubbed them over her jeans a couple of times. The guards and soldiers bickering back and forth worsened her situation. They had flown for six hours. In two more hours she would be in the colony. It would be night by then. When monsters roam free. Debra pushed that thought from her head. The pocket knife pressed against her breasts and calmed her a bit.She knew she was a fighter. She would not let any egotistical S.O.B bully her. She wondered if Marlon had heard about her. They had broken up in a pretty bad way.Maybe he was still mad at her.Maybe he did not care at all. A hollow feeling filled her chest. She closed her eyes and forced herself to sleep. The dark eyes of Marlon never left her frontal lobe. She woke up at a sharp noise .Then exclaimed voices of the soldiers as they readied their weapons. Her body reeled around as the helicopter whirled around and lost it's momentum. Panic filled her. This is it.so much for praying for a long life . Her mind filled up with I Wishes .She saw her two children. Maria was showing her the new Kabuki doll her aunt Luzma had bought for her as they played on the beach. Malcolm was shooting at an invisible target. His dark eyes looked so much like his father's. Her heart grew heavy. She was drowning in sorrow as death's grip got determined to have her. " Code red.Guard number Six down.We need back up.We are under attack !I repeat ,internal attack at border three. We need backup.!!" Debra came from her dazed consciousness when she felt steady again. The pilot had managed to steady the craft and was on a bumpy runway. Eventually it stopped. She unbuckled herself and picked her bags and tried to get out of the plane. Tried. Some dummies decided that it was the time to start another shooting spree. She lay on the floor and covered her poor ears . When she came to ,blood was oozing from her nose. And a giant man was looming over her.He picked her up as if she weighed nothing. "Pretty thing aren't you?"He said gruffly. She was frozen. Then she saw two dead bodies of the co-pilot and Geralt. And the chip in her arm started flashing. The thought of death gave her unfathomable strength. She kicked the man on the shin and crawled out of the plane to the first shrubs that caught her sight. .She took her pocket knife from her chest and braced herself for the pain that was to come. She kneeled , kept her head down and got down to business. A scream almost tore from her throat as she tore her skin and pulled the god-damned chip out.Blood painfully gushed out. The gruff man had followed her.He snickered. "Be a good b***h and stay still if you want to live" Anger bubbled in her chest. She threw the chip at his feet and stood to ran for what seemed like a mile. But not before the man realised what she had done.He went after her shooting wildly. She ran with her head bowed low. A bullet managed to graze her shoulder. She whimpered at the pain. "What the hell.To the beach girl.Run."A woman yelled at her. Debra turned in time before another bullet went straight through her head. The woman had rushed back to a place that was too close to the chip . "Run.You will explode"Debra screamed at her. Blood rushed to her head and she almost collapsed from the dizziness. But not before a motorcycle came and a pair of strong arms hauled her on it. In a moment the other woman had joined her line of sight. She was atop another motorcycle.Debra's suitcases hang on either side of her. Debra felt her head grow heavy. She clung onto the rider. She was in a whirlwind. The adrenaline was the only thing keeping her awake. Her chip was bound to explode in any minute. She jumbled over numbers as she tried to count the minutes since she had thrown the thing away. As if on cue a sizzling hiss was heard. The rider accelerated.. A loud boom rang and pain like she had never felt before went through her body. She was thrown from the motorcycle and flew through the air for what seemed like a lifetime. Screams echoed . Her's mixed up with the others until it stuck to her throat. She braced herself for the fall that would undoubtedly break her spine. Until she landed on her back on a comfy ,bloody and stinky warmth. It took a few minutes for her eyes to gain back vision. She had landed on Mr gruffy's dead body. She painfully rose from the gustly form his body had been left in. And threw up. Another glance around told her that she was lucky. Her limbs were intact. Although her shoulders felt like they had dislocated. She looked at what was left of the people and the aircraft. Yeah. She was definitely lucky. "Debra run!"The woman Debra had seen earlier shouted. Debra tried to get her legs to move and failed miserably. "Help"She called weakly. "Right here"A hard male voice said. Debra turned around and saw a very angry man pointing a gun at her head. Fate seemed to have decided that she had to die. With a cold and painful voice she hissed , "If you are to kill me, please be quick at it " Her last thoughts were dark mad eyes. ****
