Seven years ago:The Basque country,San Sebastian. Debra closed her eyes and tried to block the pain away to no avail. She has never felt so broken in her life. Her grahmen lay on the bed.She was cold , sweating and out of her wits. Debra could barely recognize her. Her grahmen had always been a picture of health. She had been the only parent Debra and her sister knew. Now, she barely recognized them. Debra tried to imagine how life would become when her grahmen was gone. How would she be able to look after her sister?.Debra was only nineteen. She felt that life had been very cruel to her.First her parents. And now this?. She sighed in annoyance as a knock sounded from the door. Marlon looked at the bloated face of his ice queen. She looked up and confusion crossed her features. "What are you doing here?"Debra asked. "I came to check on your grahmen .Also I think I know where you might get your donor"Marlon said.Debra stared at him long and hard and Marlon prayed he had not made a bad decision. "Come in.Come on in please"Debra muttered .She was shocked by his revelation. Once they were seated Marlon got to explaining himself. "I got your grahmen up the list of people who needed an organ." "How do you know they will be compatible?"Debra asked. What Marlon was saying seemed to be too good to be true. "Your grahmen gave me all her medical exams. She is worried too you know." "How,-" "Listen to me.What matters is I can get your grandma a donor.Illegally or not.Just trust me.Can I see her?" Debra could only nod. As soon as Marlon saw grahmen's condition he called his comrades.Thirty minutes later a medical van had taken grahmen away .Debra,Luzma and Marlon got into a different van. Debra did not know exactly how long they had travelled. She was dazed and the only grip of reality was Marlon's hands holding her. She was made to sign some papers in which Marlon vaguely explained they were to ensure that Debra never spoke of what was happening and to free the underground hospital of any liability or risk incurred. It was a suicide mission. But if it meant getting her grahmen alive and healthy she was all for it. Debra only got over her daze when an Indian doctor came to explain that a match had been found. She did not ask whose life had been taken so that her grandmother could get help. All she felt was the gratitude to Marlon for pulling the strings so that her grahmen could be helped Though by the law of life , anything you giveth will be given back to you with a greater impact. Hours later, when the surgery was over and a doctor came out looking as grim as ever,Debra knew it had all been for nothing. "Is she alright?"Luzma screamed. "She will be alright for sometime."The doctor said. "But?"Marlon growled as his hands together tightened around Debra's shoulders. "The Fungi had spread to other organs. Her intestines are affected.Though the kidney transplant was a success" Debra collapsed in Marlon's arms. "We are so sorry. You might have a few weeks with your grandmother.Again I'm sorry" Luzma joined them as tears rocked her body. As Marlon held the two ladies,he remembered his mother. He knew the pain they were going through.Nothing hurt like losing a loved one. That pain was vital. *** Hannah had meant to go to the states. She really had.She had been prepared to leave Marlon behind and start a new life with her sons.At the airport ,the news coverage of the holstages in El grande came. She had seen the masked men.Her eyes had stayed on Marlon because try as he might to hide ,she knew every curve of his body. To make matters worse, the World security organization officials had prevented her from leaving the country. They claimed that she was a person of 'Interest'. So here she was.Sitting in a small room with close to no ventilation.A light pointing at her head and temporarily blinding her.And the exceptional officer who kept asking her the same questions over and over again. Her answer was always the same. "I am not involved in any revolution activity.Neither is my husband" The officer slammed his arms on the desk. "So you will not talk?" Hannah huffed in exasperation. She marvelled at how ignorant these people were. For one thing a wife could never testify against the husband.Second,She wouldn't ever betray Marlon for anything in the world. She loved him despite of everything. The officer sensed her resolve and left the room.Hannah hoped that they would let her out.Her boys might be wondering where she was. An hour passed. Then another.Just when her ass forewent the numbness from sitting for so long, another officer came. She sat opposite her and gave Hannah a look that showed that she knew how to do her job pretty well. "Debra Maria Delgado." Hannah stared at her. "I am Hannah.Hannah fellipe perre-" "I Know who you are.I was asking, does the name Debra Maria Delgado ring a bell to you?" "No"Hannah answered nonchalantly. "Well it should.Hannah I take it that you are not a shallow person" "I am thinking that is an insult?" "Mh."The officer said with a smile. "Why am I still here?"Hannah asked. The officer crossed her arms. "Ms Hannah.I understand you want to protect your husband. But my job as a W.S.O officer is to protect the citizens of this country.Your husband was involved in the terrorist attack at El grande.Other than that,he physically assulted a minister.I understand that he claims it's all in the name of the revolution-" "My husband is a good man.He is loyal and true to his country"Hannah defended fiercely. Her anger brewed as she thought of how Marlon had chosen the revolution over his family. These people should have awarded him for being a good citizen and stopping the crime that Inflated Espania. "Loyal. How has been your marriage been so far ms.hannah?"The officer asked. "Good. My marriage has been amazing and I have no complains" "Really?" "Why exactly are you asking this questions officer?" "You were leaving for the states.A lawless country. This happened after you were fired for being an accomplice to a terrorist. You have anything to say for yourself?" Hannah swallowed hard.No matter what, she promised herself, she was not going to implicate her husband. "Why were you asking me about this woman ,Debra?"She asked. The officer smiled in a way that unnerved Hannah. "Glad you asked." The officer opened the folder and pulled out a couple of photographs and spewed them in front of Hannah. Hannah had never been more shocked. Her jaw was practically hanging low.The photos showed Marlon a the woman in his arms. His eyes were completely trailed on her.The woman was beautiful. For the first time since she met Marlon Hannah felt the green talons sink into her. "This might be the reason why your husband refused to follow you to the states. That might sting" "These pictures mean nothing. He is just holding her arm.You took this to confuse me"Hannah rasped. "I see.Well, we'll release you.How about you have that talk with your darling husband?.When you are ready to testify,I will be here for you.Just ask for detective Jodie de la campa" Detective Jodie de la campa watched Hannah disappear into the crowds on wobbly legs. "Do you think she will be back?"Her sergent asked. "Wanna bet?.Never mess with a scorned woman. Her fire is unquenchable" ***
