For a month Marlon managed to keep his promise.
Not because he wanted to but because the situation forced him to.
The revolution was at it's hottest peak.Conglomerates around the world had joined to support juan carlo de' senor and his revolution. The government was holding conversations with the leaders to come to an amiable solution for the sake of it's citizens.
Then Juan Carlo de' Senor, the General of the movement went missing.Marlon and his crew were sent by the revolutionary to look for him.
On the first day they hunted for him around the high society circuits.
On the second they worked with special trained agents to try and track him.
There was a little progress. But an enemy caught a wiff of what they were doing.
Juan Carlo de'Senor was the back bone of the revolution.Without him the revolution was as good as dead.Farouk de' caprio , given an order by the king of Espania , declared a war on the revolutionary.
Many went into hiding in fear of exile.
Suddenly names and faces were being plastered all around as Wanted criminals. Those involved in the revolution made plans for their families incase they were caught.
A week later Juan Carlo de senor was announced dead.Marlon and his comrades were forced to cease any revolution business.
Marlon spent his days doing some plumbing around the house, hanging out with his wife and two boys and doing practically every activity that ensured he wouldn't land in trouble.
Debra Maria was relatively out of his mind then.
During that time he realised what an ass he had always been to his family.Hannah was a wife any man would pride himself in having. She was the hardworking , spiritual , faithful type.He felt terrible everytime he thought about how much he messed up.
Hannah loved him to a fault. If anything she was among the short list of people he really cared about. He had met her at a mass service in San Jose when he was in the Navy. She used to be the cute Catholic girl every man wanted to get a taste of .
Oh and how hard she had made him fight for it.Six months later he was a hitched man.Marlon loved a challenge.Maybe that was why Debra Maria intrigued him.
Marlon knew when trouble beconed for him.Debra was it.He only had to stay away from her and the itchiness to see her would go away.
He was doing great.
Then came the call.
Marlon loved his sister more than anything else in the world. He had acted as a mother ,a father and a brother to her all his life. His rage couldn't be contained when he heard Kalia crying on the phone.
"Hey.Hey ... Hermosa please calm down and tell me what happened."
"Marlon me necesidad de su Ayuda"(I need your help).
"What happened?"
" Icar....Icar Sandroval.The R.F.C lawyer.He is going to kill me.Please hurry and save me"
"Where are you?!"Marlon yelled.
"In a pent house in San Sebastian.I can see hotel Capacabana from where I am.Me creo que tiene en El Este lado"(I think it's on the east side)
"I'm on the way"
Marlon was quick to get ready. He planned to end Icar once and for all.
What he did not know was that was the first thing that would incriminate him to exile.
****
Marlon parked his range Rover a good distance from his house.By now cops were undoubtedly looking for him.
He could imagine that his face was plastered on every news channel. He had left Icar in a terrible state.
That was what he got for messing with his sister.Kalia was now in safe hands.Marlon looked at the photos that had caused such a mess in the first place.
He still couldn't believe it.
The ammunition trade was alive and kicking in Espania. If the press got a whiff of this,a number of government officials would be in deep shit. Not only from the revolution and the citizens but also from the World security organization.
Next he saw the documents that proved the involvement of Farouk de caprio in the red trade.Marlon could not believe that Kalia had had her hands on such information. He knew that she was one of the Republican federation committee's interns. To have acquired such info she'd have had to know people in high places. That alarmed him.He would ensure her safety come what may.
As he perused the papers he felt his head ache at the huge responsibility that lay on him.He had to alert his comrades ASAP.
Bombino was the first to answer the call.
Hearing it was Marlon on the line he got into a crazy mood.
"Farouk hasn't come for you yet? What the hell were you thinking beating up a royal?"
"Bombi I can't get into that right now.I got a situation and I really need your help"
"We got you.Come to ice Queen's.We've been waiting for you for sometime"
"Oh goddamnit ,This is exactly what I needed "Marlon groaned.
"Hey,stop the bullshit.Come and get some before your ass gets shipped to The colony.Hurry"
"You are certainly helping my nerves right now"He scoffed.
Marlon got out of his car praying for strength.Just when he had began to forget her.
Boom!!
She happens.
Marlon decided to think of his wife through it all.
During the short walk, all he saw were cold dark midnight eyes that looked at him from beneath tekilla shots.
Debra tried to smile at the three males who kept looking at her.Three times she had served them.Three times they had not said a word to her other than 'Gin','J daniels' and Ice queen.
The first two were popular specialities of the house. The later ,non. She figured it was her.
It blew off her self esteem to pieces.
Was she really that mean?
All the other girls got along well with the males. As it was Theresa and Rambula seemed to be having their share of fun with them.
Debra felt horrible.Majorly because she was the reason their friend 'The soldier' hadn't come in in the last month.Debra realised that she had really liked him. What she never liked was the dull ache in her gut when he was around.
Worse was that he tipped really well.
If anything she missed that.
Debra sighed dejectedly as she went back to work.
She did not see Marlon's tall frame come in.It was much later after he had settled that she saw him.
Heart beating furiously she promised to be in her best behavior.
She walked to their table and asked for his order.
With a sharp intake of breath Marlon turned to the beautiful ice queen.
"Can I get you anything soldier?"
"I'll have whatever the rest are having but on ice"Marlon said.
"Rough night?"The one they called Aaron asked.
"I wish .It was worse.I need you to arrange a meeting with the other comrades. You will not believe what I found out"
Debra did not hear the rest of their conversation clearly.
From their postures and the dismissal of the girls she knew that it was a serious conversation.
She rushed back with Marlon's drink only to hear fragments.
"All types.Ammuni trade,The red trade ,c.p.m,Kalia showed me the data. Can you believe that two hundred children have gone missing in Espania in the last two years?..You would think after the C-Era people would go back to being more humane ...."
Marlon stopped talking abruptly as he saw Debra's shadow looming from behind him.
"Here.Do you need anything else?"Debra asked with the widest smile on her face.
Marlon finding this odd only muttered a ' no'
Debra returned to the bar and went to tend to the other patrons.
Occasionally she threw glances to the four males who were so engrossed in their conversation to notice anything else.
Her instincts were on high alert.Something was happening and Debra had a bad feeling about it .
A few minutes later ,Theresa came running to inform her that cops had been spotted just outside the club .
Debra was startled when the four males hurriedly stood and rushed to the exit.
Debra did not know what came over her.She knew that Marlon and his comrades were in the revolution. If they got caught they would be exiled.
"Theresa, take Maggie with you and stall them for a minute. There is something I have to do"
She motioned for the one they called Tohr to hurry.
"Is there another exit miss?"Tohr asked as they rushed back in.
With a worried look Marlon interjected.
"She doesn't like us.For all we know her minions might be telling the cops we are here"
With a anger Debra was accustomed to she snapped.
"This way."
They looked at her with confusion and distrust.
"Oh please.I may a b***h but I'm not a snitch.Follow me if you don't want to spend the rest of your lives in cololandia"
She took her keys and rushed to the hallway that led to her basement.
Quick heavy footsteps behind her confirmed that they had followed her.
A warm feeling filled her belly as she led them to the basement.
"Follow this route. You will emerge at a house not far from here. You can leave to wherever you want then."She said as she opened a door that led to the alley.
Only the one called Aaron thanked her.
With a smile she locked the door and got back to the bar.She hoped that she would not regret her decision later on.
She had evened things out with the soldier.
Something told her that he would be back.
Eventually.
