byWhen I first arrived on your world, I had seen enough of your bad science fiction movies to know that they served at least one truth if nothing else. Human beings in their elegant stupor drift through time, constantly recycling their ignorance and fear. That’s another way of saying that had I revealed who I was and what I meant to the future of humanity, I might have wound up in a mental institution or, even worse, dead on some darkened highway. I supposed it would be ruled a freak accident caused by a bum who was under the influence of alcohol. An old friend of mine thought the same thing. People knew him as Melvin Locke.
