"I never thought Selene Beowulf would be my mate, but then again the moon goddess does like a terrible joke." Fenris sighed internally. "Maybe" his inner thoughts began. "What Fen?" Loki chimed into his thought and began to read his inner monologue. "That wouldn't work and you know it." The Alpha sighed "who's side are you on?" he prodded Loki. "You can't mark her and make her your mate, it isn't fair to her." His inner conversation was broken by her angelic voice "Is something wrong?" her dual colored eyes nervously looking him over, slightly laced with worry. " No beautiful. Just thinking how incredible I think you are." She turned her head slightly to cover her blush. "f**k, she's so perfect." He told Loki and he agreed. "I shouldn't have agreed to this. I already love her more than I thought possible of anyone. I don't know how I'm suppose to let that go."  Loki growls in annoyance "can we just enjoy our time with our mates?" Fenris resigned to this fight. He turned his attention to Selene. "Loki would like to take that run now, if you'd like Persephone?" he addressed the wolf instead of Selene and she howled in approval. They gathered up their clothing that was scattered in numerous areas and got dressed. As they walked out the door, the guards could be seen still keeping watch at each end of the halls "good morning Alpha, will you be requiring escort today?" he waved his hand in dismissal. "No, we're going for a run, we'll be back in time for the other packs' arrival. Let Alpha Beau know that we will be in the nearby forest ." He nodded in acknowledgment and assumed his position near the bedroom door. Selene and Fenris began their short journey to the outer area of the forest. Selene began to remove her clothing and place it on a nearby stump, Fenris immediately became aroused "damn mate bond" he cursed internally." Selene noticed his somewhat distressed face. "Is something wrong?" she tilted her head like a confused puppy. He smiled at the adorable gesture. "No, you're just incredibly beautiful and I can't stop my...arousal." He admitted and she blushed once more. Fenris felt so helpless when it came to Selene's quirks and reactions, he knew he'd give her the world if she asked. "I'm going to shift now." she declared before moving slightly away. Selene made the shift look almost easy, her bones contorting into her wolf gracefully as the cracking noise filled the silent surroundings. Loki emerged moments late, the same noised filling the air, but the transition of his wolf was slightly longer due to the size difference. Persephone's charcoal fur shined in the small plethora of sunrays peeking through the trees, her heterochronic eyes now opposite . Loki's black fur had red streaks sporadically placed on his body. They both ran up to each other, sniffing and licking each other in affection. Persephone playfully bit Loki and took off running into the nearby wood area. He chased her and quickly caught up with her, jumping onto her and forcing them both to tumble. They nipped gently and began to nuzzle into the open field. After a few moments Selene interrupted "As much as I'd like to give you two more time, dad will be upset if were not there to meet the other packs. So take one more run and then lets head home." Persephone sighed and relayed the message to Loki, who was also displeased. "Catch me if you can, then we'll leave." He darted up and began to run the opposite way of the Packhouse. Persephone quickly got up and began the chase. She wasn't much slower than him,  but when she did catch up, panic and dread filled her. She came to an immediate halt and whimpered. Both Loki and Fenris noticed this " what's wrong?" They both asked. "Change back Seph." Selene demanded, prompting her to shift immediately. Loki followed and changed back into Fenris. He immediately went to her to comfort this unknown anxiety "what's wrong?" he asked again. Selene was visibly shaking " I had a nightmare about this spot the other night. There was a dead pack in this field. I've had dreams happen before. Like really happen." Her voice was unstable, unsure if she should have said anything. He nodded in understanding, embracing her tightly. Thankful for the mate bond this time, he was able to comfort her quickly. "Let's get back and we can look into some precautions. Okay?" he assured her, she nodded. He changed back into his wolf and had Selene hold on to him the whole way back. When they got back, Selene was visibly distraught still. "I need to talk to my mom. I'll see you in a little bit." He shook his head. "No, I can't leave you like this." She didn't argue and let him take her hand. They both made their way to her home. Her mom was already outside, staring at her phone, checking the time. "Selene, where have you been?" she began to scold before look at Alpha Fenris. "Apologies Alpha, I didn't know she was with you. Three more packs have arrived since this morning." Caterers were walking back and forth during this conversation stealing side talks from Serena while she talked. Fenris cleared his throat in annoyance that she didn't notice her daughters distress. "Serena, Selene is visibly upset, can the rest of this be taken care of by Beau, we need to have a conversation." Serena looked confused but complied. As they walked to the house, Serena eyed Fenris holding Selene's hand, a clear look of confusion painted across her face. "Looks like Alpha didn't mention the mating thing to his beloved wife." Fenris said to Loki. They got inside and Serena asked everyone to leave. "okay, tell me what this is about and why you're holding Selene's hand." One brow raised "Selene is my mate" Fenris started. "She stayed with me last night, we made an agreement between us and your Alpha to allow her to experience the mate bond in case she never gets a second chance one. Because you  know as the head Alpha I am not allowed to accept her and mark her." Serena nods in understanding, a small look a sadness for her daughter. "Okay, now the other part" She reminded. "ah, Selene" he turned to her, directing her to speak. " I had another dream. I seen the place in person. It's real, please believe me." She begged desperately. "I told you that was only a coincidence Selene. An odd one yes, but a coincidence nonetheless." Fenris interrupted with a soft voice and faced Selene "My love." She looked at him distressed. " Serena, would it hurt to tell the remaining packs to deter from that route? If it would make her feel more at ease, isn't this the easiest path regardless of the last time being coincidence or not?" Serena's face turned red out of embarrassment. "Of course Alpha." She complied. "I'll go give them a call and give them another route." With those final words she left and Selene sighed in relief and leaned against Fenris. He responded with a kiss on the top of her head. Fenris took Selene's hand and kissed is gently "Let's go back to the hotel to relax a little before the rest of the world intrudes." She nods in agreement and smiles at him lovingly. "Thank you. If you weren't here, she would have never considered. She thinks its just a coincidence that I dreamt something that happened. I know it isn't but it hasn't happened in so long. Kind of hard to believe huh?" She said dejectedly. He pulled her closer "I'll do anything in my power for you." Fenris reassured her. Her eyes gazed up at him in need "f**k how can I say no?" he chuckled looking at her eyes full of want. " Let's get back to the room, shall we?" She nods and they quickly get back to the Inn. They were met with something unexpected, all three of his guards. "Alpha." they bowed. " What's happening?" Fenris looks them over "Can we speak in private?" they ask looking at Selene. "No, she's my mate. Come in let's speak." The alpha walks in with his guards, letting Selene in first. "I can give you privacy if you need it Fen." her voice sweet, making him weak again. "f**k this rejection is going to kill me" he tells Loki. "I wouldn't change getting to see Persephone for anything, Now focus Fenris!" he scolds the Alpha. " No my goddess, you can stay. What happened?" One guard comes forward with an envelope and hands it to the Alpha. He opens it carefully looking at the contents. "This is from Alpha Zeus Bloodmoon. They've captured a hunter?" Fenris looked confused. "How? They're very cautious." He said to everyone in the room. " I guess they had set up a false ceremony location before Beowulf was chosen for this year, he was left behind. His 'comrades' abandoned him when they realized it was an ambush. Bloodmoon and Darkmoon joined their packs and ambushed them outside of Los Angeles, Zeus and Tamaska have him." Fenris slightly shuddered thinking of the two most violent packs coming into contact with the unsuspecting hunters. " Is he alive at this moment?" Fenris inquired. "He was when we got the delivery. Apollo also called and confirmed. They're keeping him alive for you. "Zeus would be better fitted for such a task, I know his reputation isn't of rumors. Alpha Bloodmoons mate was murdered, but not before she was tortured in front of him by hunters. Ever since, he's been a cold, callous wolf." Selene had looked as though she had never heard this before. " Please, do not speak of that to anyone my love. It's a very sensitive topic." The guards eyed Fenris for a moment "Bloodmoon wants you to come immediately to his territory" One finally spat out. " No." He replied promptly. "I will not be wasting anymore time away from my mate. I'll send someone else from the council." Fenris' tone left no room for discussion. At some point Selene had left the room to go to the bathroom, to attempt a private conversation with Persephone.
