Chapter 4: Where is the CEO

I was worried, where the f**k will I find another job so easily now? How can I cope with two kids without a job? I need to give Mabel and Molly a good life.
Just then I remembered a dentist friend of mine that told me to contact him if I ever decide to visit Margo City again.
I went to my bag and found the business card he gave me the last time we met. I immediately dialed his contact and he answered in his deep masculine voice
“Hello Miss Willows” he said. He was happy when I told him I was in Margo City.
I explained my current situation to him and he promised to come around and check on me. I said okay.
I felt a little elevated, at least someone was coming to check on me.
An hour later, Dentist Abel called me back and asked me if I would like working with *The Gazzar’s Designs*. “The Gazzars?” I asked.
That was the largest Shoe designer company in Margo city and from what I have heard about them, they are the biggest shoe designer company in the entire country and the highest paying company in Margo city and it doesn’t even end there, they had a lot more different organizations all over the world.
I replied almost immediately and said yes. I was so excited, In less than an hour I received an email from Gazzar’s Designs. I was invited for an interview the next day
“Yaaaaaaay” I said happily. I woke up the next day feeling excited. I took a bath and put on a smart blue cooperate gown, black bag and the black heels I got for my 25th birthday from Nina.
I arrived at the high story building which houses the Gazzar’s Designs. My eyes lit up when I saw the big logo.
I sighed softly. It's great that I was invited to work there.
I prayed I got lucky and got employed. It's my dream place to work and I prayed that dream would come true.
I was interviewed and immediately I was hired. I was assigned to my new office. “There are works done halfway by the former designer, You can check it out and complete it” The employment manager instructed.
“That is alright” I nodded, happy that I got the job in the first place. I would do whatever job I was assigned, including a leftover one, I don’t mind at all as long as I can take care of my babies.
“But first I need to introduce you to the CEO” Mr Amos declared, gesturing for me to come along.
I nodded and walked behind Mr Amos towards the CEO's office.
Mr Amos knocked at the CEO’s door gently and a feminine voice answered from within “yes? Come in” we got in and found a lady standing with some documents in her hands.
“Hello Maria” Mr Amos said “Beautiful morning Mr Amos” Maria responded and looked past Mr Amos to me, standing beside Amos and nodded “Where is the CEO?” Mr Amos asked and Maria told him that he just disappeared after instructing her to get him some documents.
She had been waiting for him for over 30 minutes already.
Amos nodded and turned to glance at me “She is Maria, Maria is the secretary to the CEO. I think you should also wait and get to introduce yourself to him when he gets back” he suggested, and I said “okay sounds like a plan” and glanced at Maria with a broad smile.
I have not gotten to meet all the employees, just Maria but meeting Maria was already one out of the many employees I will be working side by side with.
“I am Melinda” I introduced myself as soon as Mr Amos left. “Nice meeting you, Melinda” Maria said. Both of us sat down and waited for another 20 minutes, yet the CEO was not back.
Maria said “I would leave, there is another assignment I need to submit to the CEO in an hour's time. I have to go back and do my work” I agreed and said “okay” and waited still.
Seems the CEO had forgotten that he requested his secretary to bring him documents before stepping out.
Anyways, I am new, what do I know. As the tradition, I have to be properly introduced to the CEO before starting my work officially.
While waiting, I decided to look around and took a glance at the gigantic office. It was like the office of a country’s president, furnished, glittering and decorated.
Suddenly something attracted my attention. I narrowed my brow and looked very closely, squinting my eyes.
The bracelet on his office table had a striking resemblance with mine, I had left it in my shared apartment back then or maybe Romeo forgot to add it to my stuff. Even though I rarely removed it from my wrist.
The golden bracelet was still glittering just like my own was back then. I really missed it. That was the only present I got from her father. I was not able to take it away with her when I left Margo city five years ago. Until this moment it still hurts me that I could not.
How come the CEO has the exact type of the bracelet anyways? Well its not like they make one piece of jewelry and stop there except it was a limited edition. And also mine had something written on it … DAD LOVES MELINDA … his was probably different or might not even have anything written on it, I was uninterested to confirm.
I ended up waiting for another 20 minutes. My butt and legs started hurting and I felt like I was going to have a foot sore due to my high heels.
I could not do it anymore, I decided to go and check on him later that day. But I got busy with my work for the rest of the day.
When I closed, I was about to leave when Mr Amos walked towards my table. “Were you able to meet and introduce yourself to the CEO?” He asked, his eyes seductively lingering over my tired body. He was staring intensively at my face, neck, boobs, lips and the the lust in his eyes can not be mistaken.
I was not comfortable with this insulting behavior. “No, I waited but he did not come back before I left his office” I answered “alright then, before anything tomorrow morning, make sure you are the first person to go to his office and do the proper introduction” Mr Amos instructed. I answered “okay sir”.
I turned to leave, eager to get out of the sight of this lustful nuisance of a man. When Amos gripped me by the wrist, he looked around the huge staff room and all the other employees had left.
I happened to be the only one left because I waited this long to complete the task at hand.
