Chapter 20

Lucus touches to his forehead with mine. I can't help but to take a long breath. I am so not anticipating to talk to Ashley. I don't think I can make her understand. I love her enough to hope not to have any bad blood between us but I don't know what to do.

" Let's take it a day at a time. Ok? " Lucus mumbles against my temple.

" Let me get dressed. " Instead of replying to him.

He gets off me. I search for my bra on the floor. I turn deep red. Gosh what the hell was I doing.

Getting lost in your mate's touch.

The voice laughes. I just ignore it as usual.

I put on my bra and t-shirts but I couldn't face Lucus I was that embarrassed. We could hear my mother trying to talk with Ashley.

" Hey what's wrong ? " Lucus comes up to me after I finish dressing up.

" Nothing." I reply far too quickly for my liking and feel my cheeks warming up.

Lucus being the mighty alpha, rolls eyes, knows that I am embarrassed and still laughs in my face.

" Someone is embarrassed. You weren't embarrassed when I was kissing your bo-"

" Stop.Please stop." God he is so not dropping the subject I could feel it when he laughed but hearing Ashley's voice sober us.

" Let's go deal with her. " Lucus tries to open the door but I come in front of him.

" Lucus it's best if we don't flaunt our mating bond in front of anyone. I know you need to tell your parents and I agree they need to know. My parents know and let's keep it to us. "

He looks hurt.

" Hey it's not that I don't want anyone to know. First let me get my wolf. You know this thing we are going through is not common. Damnit I haven't even gotten my wolf. Ashley will not understand us yet. I am here with you as we both wanted but flaunting our bond will break her. She needs time. I need time. Please. " I begged him with my voice.

" Ok. Fine. Just two months and then I won't even listen to you. "

" Yes. Just two months. " I hope he could hear the promise I just made.

" And Lucus you can't just go In front of them right now. How did you even come inside my room? The door is locked. " I ask grumpily.

" The doors can't stop me from coming to you. " He gives such a cringey dialogue I almost vomited in my mouth.

" Stop with these cringey dialogues and go back from the windows you came. " I roll my eyes.

He just gives me a s**t eating grin. The mischievous Lucus is back.

" When you know how I came why ask? " He just keeps smiling. " And butterfly stop with the eye roll. Your eyeballs may fall off. "

" Ugh. Just go. I'll meet you at school. And don't come to pick me up today. I'll ask my father to drop me off. " I push him towards my window.

" The way you are behaving I think you don't want me here. " His eyes shines with mischief.

" I don't. Now go." He knows I am joking.

Before he goes he leaves a kiss at my temple.

" Come meet me in school. Ok? " I looks at me so tenderly.

God.

" Ok. " I keep looking at his intense eyes as he jumps to the tree so near my window taking my breathe away for a few seconds.

I immediately rushed to the window just to see his giving me a flying kiss before he got into the car and drove away.

I ignore Ashley's drama that is still happening in the kitchen and get a shower.

I wear a crop t-shirt and shorts. I tie my hair into a messy bun with my hair still being wet and put my armor to get ready for a battle.

I walk into the kitchen just to see Ashley and Mom talking to each other. Ashley seems quite. That is untill she sees me.

" You promised me . You promised you will give me some time with them. " she comes near me. Her eyes fills with tear which just breaks me.

" Why? I wanted time with Lucus and my parents and you came back in just three days. I haven't even seen Lucus in these three days. " Her voice comes hoarse.

" Ashley your sister was sick. So sick she was in verse of death. Give her some time to breathe. We brought her back. " My mother comes close to both of us. She pats Ashley's hair.

" Baby, no one is taking anything away from you. We love you both equally. And you know that. Don't even lie. " She keeps patting her hair .

She throws Ma's hand away.

" Stop patting me like I am some kind of dog that needs training. " She shouts.

" Ashley. " My mother looks so hurt. " I can't believe you would say something like that. "

" Vanessa doesn't look sick at all. " She gives me a head to toe look. " Stop lying. Fine she wants to be here. Fine. But at least tell her to stay away from lucus. Ma please help me get him back." she begs mothers.

Pathetic little s**t.

" Ashley, look into your heart honey. Think carefully what you want. You are asking for someone's who isn't yours. " My mother looks at her in eyes and says.

" And you think he is hers? He isn't Ok. He can't be. I won't let it happen. " She gives me a nasty look and goes outside the kitchen smashing the door.

" What's gotten into her ? " My mother whispers .

" Mom don't worry everything will be fine. I'll manage everything just give me some time ok? " I try to reassure her.

I want to reassure her but I don't have the confidence in me not gonna lie.

" I know honey. I'll talk to her when she returns home after school tonight. "

" Let me fight my battle. Don't talk to her anymore. Don't be her villain too. Let me be her villain for a while. She will get her wolf and as you all say. If not your mate or family the touch will repeal her. Everything will be fine then." I give her a teary smile.

" Will you do me a favor? " She looks embarrassed.

" Anything Mom. " I take her hands in me .

" I can't ask you to stay away from Lucus. I told you my story damnit. But infront of Ashley can you please maintain some distance. "

As a mother she was asking me for not hurting her daughter more and I could do that. But somewhere in my heart it just hurts. I was planning on doing that already but hearing Mom ask me does that makes me sad.

" Ok. Mom I am not hungry. I'll be back soon. " I reply without looking at her.

" Nessa-" She starts but I don't wait for her to end it. Just then I hear a car honk.

Just to see Ted in the driver's seat.

I quickly exit the front door and get inside the car.

" Arthur is driving your sister to school. He called Lucus to come pick you up. He needs to schedule and plan out last basketball tournament. Two months and exams we are out baby. " Ted give me his mega watt smile.

" Yeah. " I give him my best fake smile.

" Yes. "

Then we drive in a comfortable silence. I think he gets that I don't want to talk. God bless me with small miracles.

He parks his car in the parking lot. I exit the vehicle.

" Hey Vanessa. " Ted's voice's stops me.

" Yes? " I look at him.

" Thank you for coming back. My alpha was unmanageable without you here. " he smiles at me.

This makes me feel warm.

" Your welcome. Hopefully you won't have to deal with a grumpy alpha anymore. " I give him my real smile.

He just laughs.

I go to my locker. I guess no one really realized that I was gone. I am introvert so and so. I have Lucus and Ashley.

Well had Ashely.

I am friendly with everyone but I am not needed but anyone. And it is fine. I am at the background of everyone's story.

But I finally found my happiness and I wasn't giving up without a fight. Ashley's has to understand. I'll make her understand.

Just when I am taking a corner towards my chemistry class I see Ashley's hand in Lucus.
