Chapter 16

My first official kiss with Lucus ends with me on the floor and him laughing his ass out. Fucker.

" Stop laughing and help me. " I pout.

He reaches down to his side of the bed. Plants a kiss on my lips and pulls me up. And the chills never stops.

Just then I hear my mother's voice.

" Can we come in? "

But my father's voice quickly interrupts and he says what's there to ask and opens the door. Thank God we stopped kissing by then. We would have given him a show. And it would have been embarrassing as hell.

Lucus hides his morning wood with the blanket. I smirk at him. Now who is a laughing i***t?

He glares at me playfully.

" Oh honey how are you feeling? " my mom rushes to me. She pecks both my cheeks and runs her hands down my body to check if I was alright.

" Before we got distracted, I forgot to ask what happened yesterday? You were alright when I arrived. What happened? I felt as if you were in trouble. I knew before Arthur called that something was really wrong with you. " Lucus asks, confused.

And all that's what my father hear is we were getting distracted. Father's, I tell you.

" What were you distracted about ? " My father full on glares at his godson.

He just throws a sassy grin to him. God he is so annoying sometimes.

"Nothing. Nothing at all." I challenge lucus to give me s**t about this one. He just laughs at me with his eyes. The asshole.

" Dad I don't remember anything about yesterday expect the agonizing pain. I felt as if my soul was breaking in half. " I shiver just remembering it.

My mom hugs me tight to her as if she wants to take the painful experience from hugging me. We werewolves are really tactile beings.

" I could feel you in pain. " Lucus answers gravely. " I don't know how but I knew. My wolf knew that you needed me. Like I did the day at the woods you fainted. " He doesn't meet my eyes when he says that as if hiding something from me. We will talk about that later.

" Tell me what happened? " he demands.

My father doesn't like his tone but he knows by nature alphas were demanding and aggressive so he held his tongue. Plus lucus has a lot to learn being an alpha.

We both stood near each other. My mother goes to my dad's awaited arm.

" I don't know we had that fight and after you left I felt sick. I felt like my soul was breaking down. I know I had fever and I was vomiting very bad. When did you all come? " I ask lucus and my parents together.

Lucus pulls me to him. He puts his arm around my shoulder. I blush. He is touching me infront of my parents.

My parents look happy for us. They both know the importance of a mate. But they must want this for Ashley too. They must have been sad that he isn't t with her. But they are so accepting about us. This makes me hopeful. I really hope that Ashley will accept us too.

" We came yesterday evening when your aunt called us. We thought we had to admit you to the hospital but I don't an old lady came by and she said to call your mate and she put her hand in your forehead which helped you to fall asleep. Till then you were screaming in agony. " my mom looks so much in distress. I can't thank God enough that I could feel her love in her voice.

" That old lady. What was her name? " I think for a while. As they wait in anticipation. "Yes Augusta. Lady Augusta. I met her in the wood yesterday morning. Was she the one who healed me? " I am so very confused with the way the old lady behaved.

I don't tell them about the bond thing I keep see inside my mind. I will no doubt tell Lucus about it. I trust my parents I do but right now the bond itself doesn't want to be known.

" I think we should go and talk to her. "Lucus looks at me. He wants to know what the hell was going on desperately as I do.

Then we get ready have some breakfast and go towards lady Augusta's home. Rather we can call it a hut.

My parents and Lucus are with me when we knock on the door. My aunt thought it was for the best to let us go. She didn't want to be here but I am swear that she will ambush us the moment we go to her house.

" Lady Augusta we are up for a visit. " I say as I knock the door.

" You and your mate are seeking the answer. No need for your parents to be there. I'll welcome just the two rest can go where they come from. " comes back the reply and her old hunting voices never fails to creep me out.

" If that's what she wants. You both get the answers we will be waiting in your aunt's house. " My father says and both my parents turn around and go the way we came from.

As soon as they leave the door open.

We enter the house. It is a small house. There is kitchen set up in one end. In the next end she has her bed and cupboard.

In the centre of the room though they was a desk and a crystal ball in between. She was sitting in the chair near the crystal ball.

" I can see you all are confused but the confusion is mysterious on it's own . I can't tell you all. It's up to the time to reveal it. Sit here I'll give you what I can. " her voice itself was so spooky . The way she says everything in puzzle is what makes her more interesting.

Lucus grabs my hand and we both sit side by in the chairs in front of her. The crystal ball on the table in between us.

" Tell me you problem child. " She looks at me.

" How did you know that all I needed was my mate? How did you know I had a mate in the first place and that I was going through what you called rejection when Lucus never do such thing. " I ask her all at once.

" How do I know. It takes one look at you to know you have a mate child. I can see him in you and her in you. " she gives lucus a look.

" The thing you wanted to know. The bond between mates is so special. You won't understand the language. It will take years. It understands emotion. It is what we call a psychic bond. When he left you in the wood. The bond between you, the bright bond you see shining as bright right now; interpreted it being rejection when he left. The bond breathes. " she whispers. " The bond is alive between you two. It's not the wolf bond , wolf. The wolf bond will always tie her to you. It's the psychic bond. You have to protect it before the evil crushes you all. Protect your mate wolf. " She whispers in her hunting voice as she fix her gaze towards Lucus.

" Psychic bond? " Lucus and I both look at each other. We both are confused as f**k . I put my hand on his.

" I see a bond in my mind. " I whisper to Lucus. " The bright golden thread so strong. But open at one end searching for something. It was the one that kept twisting when you left Luke. " I look at him just to see that he is looking at me with his intense black eyes.

" Yes. That bond. The psychic bond. "

Finally I know I am not hallucinating things. That what I saw in my mind exists.

" As of how I know the signs of rejection. I am as old as a standing tree in this Forest. I have seen things you all would dread. I have seen happy days and sad. The war and the peace. Warload and his war prize. " lady Augusta replies.

" Now go I need to rest. Just don't forget to protect the bond. Close the door as you go. I am tired. " She doesn't even look at us when she grabs her stick and stands up.

Just when she is standing the crystal ball turns red. Her eyes roll up. All we could see is whites of her eyes. The windows open and the winds flows making her hair a mess.

" I see envy. I see jealously. I see blood. I pray the Lord to keep your bond alive cause they will try to kill it. Magic. I see magic. Oh so much my sweet child you will consume in it if you don't realize it. " she laughs and laughs and laughs.

And suddenly she stops. The wind also stops. The windows close on its own.

" Why are you still here? " she asks us as if she didn't just drop a bomb.

" What did you tell us? What does that mean? Jealously? Magic? Pysche Bond? What is going on? Tell me lady Augusta? " he growls in frustration in his alpha's voice.

" Wolf, your alpha's voice doesn't work on me. Go before I make you both. Now leave. " she looks visibly distress.

I grab Lucus's shoulder.

" Let's get out from here. "

We both leave her house. The door shuts on itself.

" What bond Vanessa? " he never uses my full name and it always means business.

I look around. I feel some energy emitting from my body. I have never felt this way. But I know now I am safe to tell him about the bond.

" When I close my eyes, I see a bond inside me. This bond is thick golden rope and the other end is open. Don't ask me how lucus I know it is to be connected to your mind. I know somehow that until the connection the bond won't be satisfied. I finally got a name for lucus. The psychic bond. " I answer him.

" You didn't tell your parents? " he asks quietly.

"It doesn't want to be known. " I tell him truthfully.

" The bond is alive, as the lady said. "Lucas pulls me towards him.

" It is. You believe me? " I look at his eyes.

" Why won't I? " he asks, confused.

" This is all crazy. "

" Let's do this crazy thing together. Never leave me ok? " he puts his forehead on mine.

I can feel his warm breath which covers me in gooseflesh.

" Never again, I promise." I kiss him back.
