Chapter 10

We don't speak the whole way. I don't know what to talk to him.

Mine.

The word that keeps ringing in my head. The silence we never used to have was so loud. The tension is so thick that you could cut it with a sword.

" Where's Ash? " comes Anna's voice.

How do I tell anyone what happened this morning when I couldn't even process it myself.

When you thought you had it all perfect and it just turned out to be an illusion.

" She is sick"

" Oh no. Is it serious?" She sounds concerned and I feel worse.

" She will be fine with some rest. I really need to get to science class. I'll see you later." I close the locker door and get the hell out of there.

At lunch I sit all alone. Thinking of what to do. Life has suddenly become a mess.

After school I asked Ted to drop me off at the beach. I knew lucus was out to practice.

" let me take you back home too. " Ted says as we reach the beach.

I wanted me time. I wanted to think. So I tell him to go. I could see he was reluctant but I guess he could hear the desperation in my voice that he left me alone.

I allow the waves to calm me down. The evening sunlight to warm myself.

" Please leave us." I hear Ashley's voice. The rage in the voice has died. She sounds just like someone who is desperate.

Desperately wanting you out of their life.

" I can't live without lucus. My parents are all about you. Lucus is all about you. It's just all about You. Let me have them. Go. Please. " I look at her. Her lovely shade of blues filled with tears.

" I know they all mean a lot to you. I won't ask you to go from our lives forever. I would never do that to you. But right now I want them to look past you. "

" How do you know that lucus broke up with you because of me? " I genuinely ask.

" Because you didn't see. We were together but it was all about you. He loved me but you, he lived for you. But that's all because you were in fornt of him all the f*****g time. So give us some time. Give me time to get my life back. I beg you. " The cry in her voice was gut wenching. She was nevertheless my sister. I couldn't see her like this.

" Ok. I will leave. " My heart is breaking all together. " I'll leave. But I'll hate you for it. My family has already abandoned me. Now you want me to leave them. I will hate you with all my gut Ashley. " my eyes fill with never ending tears.

" I'll take that. But give me them. Promise me you will return only after I call you back. Promise me Vanessa. " Her voice did carry some amount of sorry but it was all about her being desperate.

" I promise" I say and don't turn back as I leave the beach. I see Ted waiting for me.

" I didn't want lucus to lose his s**t on me." He lifts his hand in surrender.

" You can take Ashley back. I am sure you heard all that." I tell him.

" I did. I tried not to listen but she was too loud. And Lucus will get mad if something happens to Ashley. But he will absolutely lose it if the case is yours. " he says with the smile.

" We were never like that. " I try to deny his feelings for me. I don't look in Ted's eye.

" Yes it was never like that. But it was much more than that. Lucus was just an i***t that he felt it just now. He is all about you. It's what his butterfly wants. His butterfly's needs and her being happy. "

" Was I too dumb not to see all that? " I ask him finally meeting his eyes.

" You always saw it. You were just an i***t letting those two hook us. Everyone could see it. Except you two. Ashley knows. I will never understand why she got out with lucus though. " He sounds confused." You are not leaving this pack are you? "

" I don't think I have a choice" I say and get inside the car's passenger seat.

" Don't leave. She is just getting emotional. She will see the truth. She will accept the truth. You need to give her time not take any decisions harshly. And you think about your family and my best friend. "

I always knew Ted was a really good friend to lucus now I know it.

" Don't tell what happened today to lucus. Please Ted. " Now it was my turn to sound desperate.

" For you I'll delay before telling time. But I can't promise you not to tell him. Lie to him. But please don't leave Nessa." He pleads.

" You are such a good friend Ted. Thank you for all the time you helped me." My voice holds goodbye as he parks in front of my house.

" He will bring you back. He is yours. And you know it. " he sounds confident.

" Goodbye Ted. " I say as I leave the car.

I call my Aunt Mary. She is my father's sister. She is always so welcoming. She would love having me there. I know that.

" Hey sweetie. How are you? How is my stupid brother? " her voice has always filled me with love.

" I am fine, Aunt Mary. I just wanted to ask you If I could come for a visit "

" You don't have to ask sweetie. You are always welcome." My aunty replies.

" It will be a long stay Aunt. It may be months before I come back. " The tears stream down my cheeks. I couldn't believe that I had to ask something like this.

" What's wrong Vanessa? " her voice holds worry.

" I'll tell you when I come. I have no where to go to except Aunt Mary. Help me. " Help me before I break down.

" Ok. ok." She clears her voice. " Come. You don't even have to ask. Stay with me as long as you can. I would love to have you there. I love you sweetie. "

" I love you too. "

" See you soon. " I tell her and disconnect with her.

" I want to go to our Aunt Mary in Zanedom pack. " I tell my father as I enter the house and see my father in the chair using his mobile.

" What? Why? " he puts his phone down and comes close. He grabs my shoulder.

" I want to stay with her for a long time." I don't look in his eyes.

He puts his hands on my cheeks and wipes the tears that I didn't realize were still flowing.

" It's about what Ashley said? "

I don't reply to him.

" She is just in some phase. She loves you. You are her sister. You don't need to go anywhere."

" But I want to go. I have to go daddy. " I plead.

" No one is leaving. " I hear my mother's voice.

" I didn't bring you to this house for you to leave. You will leave us but only when you find your mate. And it's the end of the discussion. " her voice is as strong as steel.

" Mommy. Let me go. Let me go before it all breaks down. Let me go. " I am all but full on crying now.

I feel my father's arm around me. I feel my mothers arm around me. They both are hugging me tight.

" Nothing will go wrong. " my father's voice is always so sure.

" Just let me go for a few days then. Daddy Ashley needs time away from me. Let me go. I promise to come back. Please don't make this hard for both of us. " I beg them.

" Ok. Ok. Stop crying. "

" What are you even saying Arthur. None of my daughters are leaving me. " I had to know my mother who has always been my shield will not let me leave with a fight.

I felt their love to my bones.

" Marie. Honey hear the desperation in your daughters voice. Let her go. But it will only be for a week. Not more than that. Are we clear? " My father asks me.

" Yes daddy. " He doesn't know that I will be back only when Ashley will call me.

Then I pack my bags and in the depth of night I leave without any goodbyes in my father's car.
