CHAPTER FIVE

Indira's POV That one word sealed it all for me. Marcus was so happy that I wondered if something else had happened. He vowed to protect me from Lucian, asking me to leave all the work to him. And to be honest, I was eager to see how he would protect me from the shackles of Lucian Wolfsberg. As far as I was concerned, he didn't have any special abilities or blood, he was just a regular werewolf. But he was everywhere around me, he had been with me since the day I agreed that he could protect me. I hadn't spoken to Lucian since the day he said he wanted to use me. My eyes had clashed with his several times in the Academy, but I've not spoken to him. And it had been a week since he made that deal with me. I didn't even know if I preferred his silence over his confrontations. It felt like his silence was meant to communicate with me. So unnerving. "Oh, not again." My wolf sighed in my head, bringing me back to reality. I was approaching the cafeteria, but a particular set of bullies at the entrance. For some reason, they liked to pick on me. My petite figure made me an easy pick for them, I guess. I swallowed thickly and continued walking anyways. But just as I expected, they stopped me. I rolled my eyes and stopped. "Where do you think you're going to? Have you greeted us?" One of them asked me. "Just let me go, I don't have time for you all today," I mumbled. They all roared in laughter, pointing their fingers at me as though I was the biggest joke ever. "We're the ones who get to decide if we have time for you and not the other way round, you Pest." Pest. I was called that word by my uncle, or was it Beta Louis? Hearing them call me that made me really pause, and my fists balled up. I could just kick their asses right now, but I had to refrain from anything that'd get me kicked out of the school. "Stay away from me," I said in a warning tone and tried to get into the cafeteria. The one closest to me dragged me back by the arm, his hand so tight on mine that I could feel a bruise forming already. "Leave her alone!" A very familiar voice sounded from behind me, and I looked back to see Marcus racing over to us. I sighed in relief, knowing he'd at least get me away from them. "Man, don't you have other things to do other than following this twit around? He doesn't need your protection!" The one holding my hand said. "He's so dumb that he doesn't know how to make use of his pronouns again. Because why did he just refer to him as 'her', is he a female?" Another one said and they all burst into laughter. My heart dipped as I realized that Marcus really made a mistake. "Let him go if you still value your hand," Marcus ordered. The boys looked at each other before he finally released my hand. "Don't think we're leaving him because of you, we're not scared of you at all. And maybe you should get something meaningful to do with your life." They left at that, leaving me alone with Marcus. I rubbed the part where my hand was held and thanked Marcus for coming to my rescue. "It's okay, I hope you weren't really hurt." He asked and I nodded. I thanked him once again before going into the cafeteria to get the food I wanted. Marcus had really been coming to my rescue. It was starting to look like I attracted trouble everywhere I went. But he'd always save me. On the training grounds, in the dormitory, in the library. He was everywhere. I couldn't thank him enough. And he gets ridiculed after saving me, yet he didn't stop. The day rolled by quickly and it was soon night. I had finished up with my rounds and was looking forward to resting after the long day I had had. The warriors on the training grounds showed no mercy. I was trained like a man, it wasn't like they knew my real gender. Just as I was about to get to the dormitory, I suddenly felt a presence behind me. Before I could look back, the person had clamped their hand on my mouth. I thrashed around and tried to get their hand off me, but they were stronger. I was dragged down the hallway and led to a part of the building that had no lights. Panic flooded me when they opened the door and I saw that it was an abandoned kitchen. My wolf tried to come out, but she was suppressed for some reason. "Stop trying to get away, you're not going anywhere." A strange voice said. "Let me go!" I managed to say even though my voice was muffled. There were two, and their faces were strange. I didn't even know them! "No. It has been a while since we had fun, and we were playing a game to see how long someone can stay in an enclosed place before they get tired. Guess who we chose as the specimen?" "You!" The other guy cheered. An enclosed space? I was claustrophobic. I wouldn't survive in there. I scratched, bit them, and even kicked them at the place where the sun doesn't shine, but they still overpowered me. I was pushed into the kitchen basement where there was no form of illumination whatsoever. My wolf's eyes came in handy and I saw the disgusting place I was pushed into. It looked like it hadn't been used for years. "Let me out, please." I banged the little door they had thrown me through, but they've locked it from behind. I sat down as helplessness gripped me. I was weak and pathetic. Lucian was right after all. I needed a stronger person if I wanted to survive in this Academy. After sitting alone for some minutes, I finally heard footsteps from outside. I sprang up immediately. "Hey!" I shouted. "Indira!" A familiar voice sounded from the other side. It was Marcus's voice. "I'm in here," I said, and I soon heard the doorknob jiggle. A few seconds later, the door opened to reveal Marcus. I had never felt as excited as I was when I saw that I was finally free. "Thank you so much!" I exclaimed, moving to walk out of the little space. But he cornered me, wrapping his arms around me instead. "You scared me so much. I got a flashback of the time my sister was kidnapped too. I'm so happy you're safe." He said. I stood still in his hold, the hug felt so weird but I didn't move. He finally broke it, but what he did next shocked me. He kissed me on the cheeks, and he didn't stop at that, he wanted to kiss me on my lips too! "What are you doing, Marcus?" I asked, stepping back. He moved back too, but it was to close the door. Once again, I was trapped. The Marcus who hugged me suddenly looked different from the one before me. A mischievous glint was on his face, and he stepped closer to me, backing me against the wet walls of the basement. "Marcus, what are you doing?" I asked him again. "You're a female, Indira. I want what males want from females. I've been a good guy to you, don't you think I deserve some reward?" I touched my pocket to see if my dagger was still there, but it had been moved! Did those guys take it? I always had it on me. It was the only form of self-defense tool I had on me. "I want you, Indira." "Marcus, no. Please stop." I begged him. A wicked grin came up on his face, and he suddenly pounced on me. I let out a loud yell, trying to restrict his hold. But he used my unsteadiness to his advantage and tore my blouse. My chest started to hurt from how hard my heart was beating. "Help!" I yelled at the top of my voice, not caring that I could be sent out of the academy if detected by the guards or anyone. All I wanted was to be out of that place. "Just stay still, I know you want me too." He said with his hands on every part of my body. He held my two hands in one of his own and gagged my mouth with my torn blouse. Where the f**k is Lucian Wolfsberg when I need him now?
