Chapter SixAs if what she had said had upset him, Magnus Fane was more disagreeable than he had been before and certainly grimmer. He spoke only in monosyllables until Delysia went to bed where she lay awake in the darkness thinking about what a strange man he was. Yet at the same time it was fascinating to be able to duel with anyone so formidable and to know that occasionally she scored points on Fleur’s behalf which, if he was being honest, he could not deny. The next morning she received a message to say that as he would be busy until luncheontime and he would be obliged if she would keep to her sitting room and not come downstairs.
