Final Thoughts
I finished this novel four years ago, on November 2nd. I shared it with some readers, but by then I had gone back to school (13 years after my last master's degree) while working as a full-time librarian. I put the novel aside along with my other books. It wasn’t until this year that I sat down to take a look at my books.
Writing Europan Holiday was a different experience for me. For the first time, I dictated the first draft of the book. I used a digital recorder and transcribed it using Dragon. It’s not a perfect transcription, but I’d put the transcript on one side of the screen and then on the other I rewrote it, fixing what went wrong with the dictation, including all of my fumbling, false starts, and searching for the words. Those rewrites went faster than sitting do
