Chapter 2

Elena's POV I knew Cecilia. She was famous, she and her husband. The one I found out months ago was my father. Mother used to tell me how he abandoned us because she had me out of wedlock. He wasn't ready to lose his reputation over her or me so he abandoned us like we were useless. Then he married Cecilia. They've been happily ever since then. Seems like it was finally time to bring their happiness to an end.“Are you sure about this, El? You'll be walking into the lion's den if you go through with this plan. I'm worried about you.” Taylor muttered and I let out a sigh, relaxing into the chair as my eyes twinkled.“Oh, I'm a million percent sure, Taylor. They have to pay for killing my mother and making me suffer all my life.” I threatened with a smile and she let out a sigh, knowing that she couldn't change my mind anymore. “How long has it been since the accident?” She asked and I counted my fingers, my heart as the image of my cold mother's body lying at the morgue.“Ten months. Ten months since Cecilia ruined my life.” I muttered, my throat tightening as my eyes watered, and she pulled me into her arms. “We'll get your revenge, El. It's okay.” She whispered and I nodded. Cecilia, count your f*****g days. “So, here's the plan…”The plan came to perfection after two weeks. Taylor had managed to find a vacancy spot at the Von Freuler mansion and I immediately applied, not wanting to miss the opportunity right in front of me. Luckily for me, I was accepted without even needing to try hard and that brought us to phase two.“If Cecilia sent someone to kill you and your mother,” Taylor started as she helped me pack my bags. “She would definitely recognize you at once.” She pointed out and I knew she was right. “How did I not think of this?” I said with creased brows, worry filling me instantly, but Taylor already had a plan in mind.“Which is why you have to pretend you lost your memory during that accident. You don't remember anything before the accident. You have no one except me. I'm your sister, your only sister. If you act perfectly well like I always taught you, they would never suspect you.” She explained and a smile formed on my face as I hugged her tightly.“I am truly grateful for you, Taylor,” I muttered and she patted my back gently before pulling away. “Now, go get your revenge.”************“You said your name is what?” “Elena,” I replied, a plastered smile on my face as Cecilia stared at me like she had seen a ghost. “It's a pleasure to meet you and to work here—”“We cannot accept you.” Cecilia immediately blurted, her expression stiff and my smile dropped instantly. “We already found someone else, and we don't need you anymore. You can leave.” She added hurriedly and my heart sank. My plan was failing miserably. “We didn't find someone else.” Someone said from the door and I glanced up to see a man walk in, the man who was none other than my father. My fists clenched at the sight of him and I desperately vowed to take revenge on both of them for ruining my life.“Maximilian, I'm talking with the—”“You can't deny her, I already accepted her as our maid.” Max interrupted Cecilia before turning to me with a smile. “Welcome to the Von Freuler mansion, Miss…?”“Elena. Thank you so much for having me, Mr Von Freuler.” I replied with a bright smile as I took his hand for a shake. Perfect. Everything was going according to plan.Cecilia stared at me warily, but I acted like I couldn't see her; my entire focus was on her husband, who started explaining what my job in the mansion was. He was nicer than I thought and it irked me.“How did you find out that we needed a maid, Elena? What ulterior motive do you have?” Cecilia suddenly asked and I turned to her with a look of confusion on my face, acting like I didn't understand what she meant.“ I-I have no ulterior motive, ma'am. My sister was the one who told me you needed a maid, and I was desperately looking for a job, so that's how I showed up here.” I explained with an innocent smile and Cecilia's brows creased even more. That's it. Stay confused.“You have a sister?” She asked in shock and I nodded before staring at her warily. “How's that possible?” She muttered and then mumbled something under her breath that I didn't catch.“Do you have a problem with me, ma'am? You don't seem to like me. I don't know but have you met me before? Why do you seem so wary of me?” I questioned, poking her where she least expected with my words and she panicked at once.“Leave the child alone, Cecilia, she's just here to work,” Maximilian said, guiding me to what I think should be my new room in this huge apartment. Cecilia's eyes didn't leave me until I disappeared from her sight and I let out a sigh of relief. The more wary she was of me, the quicker it would be to watch her slip and fall into her own freaking pit. It would definitely be fun messing with her, I could feel it.“Please ignore my wife's hostility and questions. She's just very wary of strangers. I'm sure she will warm up to you soon enough. Here's your room. The other maid would guide you on what you're to do in this mansion. Oh, and my son is coming home today, you should clean his room before he shows up.” He muttered, and before I could reply, he turned around and walked away.I stepped into the room and my jaw dropped.
