“Cole?”
He appeared in the bedroom doorway almost immediately.
“What happened?”
“Come here.”
His eyes dropped to my hand. “Are you hurt?”
“It's a paper-cut-level emergency. Try to contain yourself.”
He crossed the room and sat beside me, looking considerably more concerned than the situation warranted.
I held up my finger.
“Watch.”
He examined the tiny cut.
“Emma, what are you—”
“Shh. I'm doing magic.”
Ruby snorted.

I closed my eyes and tried to remember what Selene had told me.

I needed to recognize the warmth of my gift.
