Chapter 11 - Home
I'd been inside the Alpha house hundreds of times.
I'd eaten meals there.
Hung out with Jake there.
Annoyed Cole there.
I'd probably stolen food out of the kitchen more times than anyone realized.
But I'd never gone this way.
Cole led me past the familiar rooms and toward the private Alpha wing.
I slowed when we reached the hallway.
He noticed immediately.
“You okay?”
“Yeah.”
I looked around.
“This is just weird.”
“Bad weird?”
“No.”
I glanced at him.
“I've spent half my life in this house, and I've never been allowed back here.”
“You weren't not allowed.”
I stared at him.
“I was absolutely not allowed.”
His mouth twitched.
“Maybe.”
“And now I'm moving in.”
“Yes.”
“You seem very sure about that.”
“I am.”
Of course he was.
