Chapter 8: Induction “Skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony" —The Brothers Grimm. We talk about my master plan some more. Elder Thomas arranges a meeting with us, so that I can present the blueprint in general. I can ’ t give all of my cards away, of course, and I don ’ t plan to lose control of the only leverage I have. These elders know their game, and I mustn ’ t succumb to the pressure. If they know everything, I ’ ll be left with nothing. Who is to say that they won ’ t take my idea as their own? They have no idea that I won’t be telling them everything. They don’t ask, and I don’t clarify. It’s best to leave them a little bit in the dark, if I want to remain as head of this project. “ Oh, that ’ s right. You should meet my son, Thobias, ” Elder Thomas says. “ He ’ s a thinker too, a little bit like you. Though he ’ s also a fighter. A bit deviant, that one. ” “ I doubt that anyone ’ s like me, ” I smile humorously, “ But yeah, okay. I don ’ t see the harm in it. ” I wrap up the meeting and head toward the door to take my leave, since Elder Thomas and Dad obvious have some things to catch up to. “Thank you for your agreeing to this, Dad, Elder Thomas. You have no idea how much this means to me.” My smile is that of a blooming flower; pure and refreshing. I can tell that even a child like me can enamour them. “ Charming, ” the old man nods at my Father approvingly, before bidding me goodbye. “ Be sure to talk with that son of mine, alright? Oh, and please, call me Thomas. ” — When I walk out, I am greeted by the sight of a very tall, lean and muscular young man. He stands so close that his proximity catches me by surprise, causing the door to slip from my fingertips and slams closed none too gently. I blink, internally flinching for the mistake. The young man stares at me, clearly also not expecting to see me when the door opens. He ’ s so tall that I have to crane my neck just to see his face. I circle around him so that I can put some distance between us. The guy is pale, like how all vampires are. Something about his face makes me want to look at him a second longer, though. He has strong jaws, big icy blue eyes, thick and long nose, full plump lips and a light stubble to go with. His mouth parts slightly, surprised, and I can see the brilliant white of his fangs. He has raven hair, the length trimmed short and modest. He wears a fitting grey shirt that emphasize is great form, as well as holsters around his chest. I can tell because it’s peeking out from one side underneath his long coat. His pants are as tight-fitting as his top, and he’s got leather boots to match his jacket. Something about him feels familiar.
