15 Sydney awoke with a start to the sound of the alarm. She reached out and hit the stop button and rolled over to the other side. Pulling the pillow into her stomach, she could smell Jax. Her eyes popped open at the memory of their lovemaking the day before. Wow! Did I actually do that? She smiled. She should have been euphoric. After all, it was invigorating, exciting—incredible. But she had a nagging feeling deep in her gut. Sydney got up and went into the shower. The feeling wouldn't leave even after she'd dried off and dressed.
