Using a chain fall, I lowered all the gear down to the sailboat and hid it away in the cabin area. After placing all the weights back into the wooden crate, I lightly hammered the top back into place and prepared to hoist it overboard. I climbed up to the tug’s crane and energized the boat’s hydraulic pump. After connecting the crate’s long slings to the boom, I lifted the heavy crate off the deck and placed it over the side of the tug just above the water.
Eager to get moving, I untied one sling and used a sharp blade to cut the other. The crate tumbled into the water, briefly floating before slipping below the waterline and sinking out of view.
