In the private room, Danie's earlier swagger had completely vanished. Though he was sobbing pitifully, his comically swollen features inadvertently undermined any sympathy the scene might have evoked.
Through his sobs, Danie pleaded, "Your Honor, I demand justice! This man assaulted a police officer. He deserves to rot in jail for this!"
"Then let's call the police to handle it first."
Jonathan gave a calm nod, took out his phone, and dialed 911.
Ten minutes later, when the police arrived, they paused at the doorway, taking in the unexpected scene before them.
The officers immediately straightened when they recognized Jonathan, the renowned former judge of Zane City whose presence alone commanded respect. They offered deferential bows in acknowledgment of his presence.
